I’d say this restaurant is a hidden treasure in LA. It is family owned, not appealing from exterior or interior but that’s not the point. More importantly, their Shanghainese cuisine is one of the best in LA. The lady boss and her reception is always delightful. Chef is the owner so you can make sure he makes every dishes with cares. No MSG. A great place for family gathering.

Dishes looks ok, but not cooked perfectly. My issue is the braised pork in an urn, the pork was no where tender yet they served it. It’s better to tell me they are out.

They secretly reduce the food portion over time, be sure to check the food portions every time you make an order over the phone

The four of us got there at almost 7 PM on New Year’s Eve, there were three tables available. The wait staff were prompt to sit us, also friendly and eager to share what the house specialties were. It was our first time eating there. We ordered dishes of fried battered fish (w seaweed seasoning), wined chicken, stewed meatballs, pickled mustard green and two orders of steamed dumplings. All were above-average tasty with the wine chicken being exceptional. Portion of food was generous, we ended up having some leftover of the chicken, meatballs and mustard green. The total of bill came out to be $72 including tax ($2 for a bucket of rice). When paid in cash, desert of sweet rice balls filled with ground sesame seeds in soup was on the house. This place had a busy turnover even at 8 PM.

This is a simple, comfort food place we go for their soup, dumplings and other soothing food. We like the dessert soup at the end. Usually there’s little to no wait, but the place is typically full.

Food are not taste as good as my own cooking (I’m not a good cook BTW)!! The portion is on the stingy side, and the price is expensive. Not recommended at all!!
