While traveling for work, I like to try the cuisine that particular city is known for. For example, San Antonio is known for a plethora of different types of food, but it has been said that SA is the leader of Tex-Mex. So, while looking for Tex-Mex places, my sister came across a Cali-Mex place called Sabores Cali-Baja Mexican Grill and said I should check them out and review it. It is also SA’s top 25 most popular restaurants on Yelp, so I had to see what the hype was about.

Been trying places around her to find the one that is most like the food you find in Southern California. More specifically San Diego. The horchata as off but still good. Just seemed like the ratio was a little off. The fish taco was amazing!!!! Perfect actually! The fish was amazing and the batter was the right amount of crisp. The cabbage was fresh! The sause was creamy and flavorful. The Ca burrito was nice and big and so good. They had a sauce that isn’t usually on a CA burrito but it was still very good. Next time I will try it without that sauce to see how it is. This burrito had Pico de gallo which is unheard of in this area. Great amount of guac. The fries are the right type and cooked right. They also have hot carrots which I haven’t seen anywhere else yet. I will definitely return!

Fantastic ribeye taco and Baja shrimp taco. The beef was extremely tender and probably the best beef taco I’ve had in San Antonio. The sauce on the Baja shrimp taco was fantastic. The Baja fish taco was probably the weakest of the three. The beans were not great. Very bland. The beans aren’t enough for me to not go back. I’ll be making another visit to try their burritos.

We had the ribeye tacos and the avocado salad with chicken; both were fantastic but the ribeye tacos were our favorite. Absolutely PHENOMENAL! Fresh ingredients, bold flavors and good to the last drop!! The staff were friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area. ❤️

Great food and a quiet place to eat. We went on a weekend and it was not super busy.

Their loaded fries, you will find these being made fresh on the Cali Beaches! The owner actually uses ribeye steak for more flavor instead of the typical beef.

I was craving authentic Mexican food and I decided to try Sabores Cali-Baja Mexican Grill. It’s by far the best Baja Style Mexican food I’ve tried in San Antonio. I’m from CA and it’s like a piece of home away from home for me. First I tried the Enchiladas Rojas de Pollo and a Baja Shrimp Taco. My girlfriend ordered a Sabores Shrimp Taco & Baja Shrimp Taco. The food was exceptional and the service was superior, not to mention that it’s really clean and all the food is freshly made. It was so good that we went back the next day. I ordered the Ceviche and she ordered the Asada Nachos. We then shared a Guavalla Cheesecake! You have to give them a try!

So stoked my wife found this place. Coming from SoCal (Southern California) we miss having Baja Mexican food. For those of you who know Rubios or Wahoos will appreciate this awesome restaurant.
