Came on a Saturday night and it was very disappointing. It was my first time here and I expected an $18 specialty roll to taste better and to be a better quality than many basic rolls from other places. but that was not the case. I have had sushi at many places and this was by far at the bottom of the list. The rolls were small and the basic hand rolls tasted like like ShopRite sushi although I would say ShopRite is better. I am really not sure how this place has 4.8 stars because the quality and the service were terrible. And I didn’t mention the gnats flying around the whole time we were eating. Would not recommend anybody to eat here.

I’ll start off by saying I’m a sushi nut so my standards are high. Great atmosphere. Clean. Friendly staff. And the food was great quality, good portions, and absolutely delicious! Most places I go even the starter salad is a little sad but the ginger salad I got here was full of fresh and crisp veggies. Will definitely frequent this spot especially since we live walking distance away.

Such a great addition to the downtown area! Service was great – Liz was a gem! Her recommendations were spot on. The food was so fresh and delicious! The Kani blew us away. The crab Rangoon were crispy and stuffed with fresh shredded crab. The Shumai were soft and pillowy. The selection of chef’s special rolls was inventive and unique. They are byob so went across the street to the distillery and grabbed some to go drinks. The atmosphere was laid back with a cool vibe. This is a great date spot, as well as a great spot for friends and family. We will return to try other small plates and rolls.

Thank you to Jackie and the staff at Safu Toms River for making our daughter’s Sweet 16 party so special. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend Safu for the atmosphere, quality of the food and the attentive staff.

The sushi is probably the worst sushi I’ve had in the area. I think ShopRite sushi might be better. The rolls are small and the sweet potato roll is just not how you do a sweet potato roll. Extremely disappointing. Save your money and go to Koi!
