My family visited here (party of 6) this last weekend. My husband loved his beef Bourguignon. I had the scallop salmon dish (which is really scalloped salmon au gratin) and it was wonderful. I have had a lot of salmon over the years but this was the first time I had it prepared this way. Others at our table also had fish dishes and everyone was very impressed. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the evening..

What an amazing place in a beautiful setting in the Driftless. The Sisters are so kind and gracious. The menu is extensive and everything I’ve tried has been simply delicious. You can taste the goodness and the good for youness! There is even a gift store. Serene and special place indeed!

Decided to try eating here on a whim. It was a great quiet environment. The food was AMAZING. Everyone is very friendly. It does take a bit to get your food. But everything is farm fresh and organic, so ita worth the wait. They made sure everything was perfect. Will be going back for sure.

We were blessed with the tastiest breakfast you can imagine. Hubby had ham steak breakfast and I had a breakfast quiche/tart. The French press Peruvian coffee was divine! I had a delightful-and insightful-conversation with one of the nuns. This is NOT the place if you are in a hurry, as everything is prepared when you order it, but everything was worth waiting for. We’re not from the area, but we’ll be back next year when we return for our family reunion.

By chance we found this place, and my wife and I were very pleased to have found it. The Shrine was nice, with a wonderful church. The French Food served in the restaurant was AMAZING! The service is slow because nothing is prepped ahead of time, it’s all made to order. I am sure my salad was no more than 10 minutes old when I got it. The leaves had no bruises, or marks and everything in it was great. The main dishes were culinary delights. I had the haddock w/ ginger and my wife had the lamb chops. Both came with potatoes and carrots in a sauce for the dish. We were full, but still went ahead with the homemade ice cream desserts.

This was a wonderful afternoon! The food was beautifully presented and equal to a bistro in France. The menu is extensive so everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. Most of all, the hospitality was lovely. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. I’m excited to eat here again!

In a hurry or on a budget? Go somewhere that advertises on tv. If you want a unique rural eating experience, slip in and enjoy the special ambience of this religious order’s food mission. It’s all been good. Slow down, talk with yourtablemates, and enjoy their locally-grown, organic, taste treats.

Very good food. The meat and veggies are grown on their land and they make their own breads. Gays Mills is lucky to have them.

Wow! This was an awesome slow food experience! Organic food raised with love. I can’t even properly put into words the amazing taste of the food. To start, I had a salad that was so fresh and lovely. Honestly, it was so luscious I can’t remember the last time i felt this way about lettuce haha. I also had the brisket and it was so tender and flavorful. I would eat here everyday if I could. The service is wonderfully slow and kind. It reminded me of being in Europe. The atmosphere is beautiful, simple, and unpretentious. The grounds are peaceful. You can feel the love and intent in everything they do here. I felt fed physically and spiritually. It’s a special kind of place that may not be for those looking for a quick bite, or cheap, low quality food, but if you care about your food, and want to have time to enjoy good company, in a peaceful beautiful spot, I highly recommend this gem. They also sell eggs, including quail eggs, macrons, wine, tea, and jam etc. I found the whole experience very inspiring and nurturing. If this is something you can appreciate, please go and support this wonderful restaurant.
