We were looking for a good sushi restaurant while out running some errands in Troy and decided to stop in. The inside is clean, organized and neat. We were seated right away for lunch, but it wasn’t busy. We ordered a tempera roll a California roll, egg, crab and tuna sushi. All sushi was delicious. The individual sushi was very nicely sized. They provided regular soy and lower salt soy on the tables. We ordered a diet soda and tea and those were also cold and large sized. The price of the meal was reasonable. We will be back.

We visited Troy recently and had dinner at Sakai for the first time in many years. I’m happy to say, we were not disappointed. We ordered an assortment of appetizers for our group of 5. Hot items (spring rolls and crab rangoon) were still hot from the fryer. The sushi was very nicely done. All of the appetizers were delicious. For dinner I had the chicken teriyaki bento box and all of it was amazing, with my favorite being the small assortment of tempura items (2 shrimp and some veggies). I highly recommend visiting Sakai when you are in the Troy area, though I would warn you, this is not an inexpensive place. Personally, I cannot wait to return.

I’ve eaten a lot of Japanese food in my life. What I really liked about this restaurant though was that they’ve included things on their menu that you often don’t get. For example, I had onigiri (handmade stuffed rice balls the Japanese often eat for lunch)… usually I have to make my own.

Just what I needed. This establishment has it all. The ambiance, the excellent customer service and the delicious cuisine. I tried the spicy tuna roll: fresh and tasty. I also ordered spring rolls which were crispy and hot. Great flavor. I had the noodles which was a new taste for me as the broth was a bit sweet. Suggested by the server and I’m thankful for it. Received a $5 coupon for next visit with my bill. Great birthday lunch and I will be back soon! (Shown is my daughters bento box as well)

Had the Hibachi Chicken and Salmon, it was delicious. Our chef was efficient, but not talkative. Everything was very clean, including the restrooms, and the staff was attentive and friendly.

We stopped here because we haven’t had hibachi in forever. The place near our house hasn’t opened for dine-in since the pandemic began. This place was open for dine-in and had hibachi tables operating, but they refused to sit us on that side. We paid over $100 in part for hibachi prices when we didn’t get the hibachi show or portion sizes either. The service was phenomenal! I haven’t had a waitress that attentive in a very long time, but ultimately that’s not why we chose to dine there. We should have left when they said he couldn’t sit at a hibachi table, since that’s why we went there, but we didn’t, and now I regret it.

Sakai is my favorite place to eat in the Miami Valley. The service is friendly, attentive, and prompt. Everything comes out absolutely fresh, hot (if cooked), and incredibly delicious. The sushi is divine, but so are the appetizers. It’s worth the price + a generous tip, every time. It is never overly loud, and the atmosphere is open, welcoming, and nice without being schmancy in a way that makes me feel out of place. A hidden gem in Troy, Ohio. Keep this place open forever.

Great good, wonderful staff. We come here so often that they know what our “usual” is. Katsu Curry for me and Soft Shell Crab and Gyoza for my girlfriend. This is the closest place to my house in Tipp City where I can get my Curry fix on. It’s my absolute favorite food. I definitely recommend this place. They also have sushi and ramen as well as other Japanese and Asian dishes. As far as I know, none of the workers are Japanese and that’s a bit of a let down, but they are still wonderful people. It’s not Coco Ichibanya in Asakusa… But it’s still amazing curry. My girlfriend is addicted to the soft shell crab

I had a better experience then when I tried it last year since under new ownership. You can read that review on Tripadvisor. My ex said he went to give the Katsu Curry a try a few days ago and it was much better. I went with him today cause he went to eat more. They had small and medium sushi rolls half price. It was nice to see they were open on a Sunday. The rolls were small (cute). I got the california roll and dream roll. I also got takoyaki. ❤ i think maybe some of the prices of some things went up a little but it was worth it this time.
