The food was horrible, it had no flavor and tasted old. The worst I have eaten in a long time. We order one fry rice with scallions and one with out it and they both came out plain. We tried to tell the waitress but she was missing in action and when we finally got a hold of her she call the manager who was a very disrespectful person with no customer service and because I was translating to my friend who didn’t speak English, she insulted us saying that we didn’t have to be speaking in our language. Racist managers and careless cook.

The sushi boat river was fun. The food from the kitchen was good as well. It wasn’t very busy the night we went and the sushi chef was open to making whatever rolls we liked for the boats. It was fun to try new rolls without committing to a whole 8pcs.

I’ve been stopping by here two out three times a year as I travel through the area for many years. Always good quality, well prepared sushi and rolls.

What happened?! My family has been coming here for over 25 years. It’s never been THIS BAD! I order vegetable fried rice from the hibachi side and ended up with a plate of soy soaked rice and broccoli. It was so salty and dark. They’ve never served it like that. Handed it back and they still tried to charge me for it. My husband and I couldn’t even eat it. My sushi had raw uncooked sweet potato that was supposed to be deep fried and everything tasted so stale, soggy and awful. Futomaki roll used to be a large roll with lots of filling, this time is was chewy and mostly just rice. And be careful because they charge you 18% gratuity automatically, but won’t tell you. The guy who makes the sushi is the ONLY reason we kept coming back.. always so nice and accommodating. Whoever owns the place now needs to quit being so cheap and go back to serving your customers real food. Especially for the price.

I have frequented this place back when it was Sapporo’s and now with the new owners as Sakura’s. I make a beeline to the river of sushi boats and have never tried their hibachi side. Apparently it is a fun side of the restaurant because I often hear laughter and the grilled food aroma is pleasing as you enter. I use a walking cane now and negotiating this facility is easy. Staff sometimes seems spread thin, but that seems to be across the board at all restaurants nowadays, still, they are always pleasant and efficient. I usually order something directly from the sushi menu as well as grab boat plates floating by. I make certain to arrive hungry and will happily waddle out with a full belly and happy mouth! Sushi selections have always been fresh and the facility is clean. This is one of my go to places when friends visit!

Had a very interesting experience at this restaurant while my girl and I were in Daytona for vacation last month. I used to frequent this establishment very often while I was attending college nearby from ’04 – ’09 & it was much, much more vibrant then. Upon arrival, I told the lady who greeted us how nice it was to return after nearly fifteen years but she was quick to state, “We are new owners. New management since then!”. The place was quite dead for a Friday evening too, with only one or two other patrons present, no sushi chefs to be seen in the central area of the floating bar, and the service was somewhat indifferent. The food, however, was delicious, fresh and of good value for the locale. We’ll be back, but maybe a bit earlier in the week.

Food was good but I took my family there, my sons, 4, 8, 11, which my 4 year old barely ate and we got smacked with an 18% gratuity fee of $31.00. I would never go back for that reason alone. The service was so, so and tips stands for to insure proper service. I should be able to pay what they deserved.

I order the Cheescake tempura a lot. I love it! Once I ordered the cheesecake but got the brownie instead but they couldn’t remake because I had already left and they closed. The host remembered her word and made another one for me 1 month later. I really appreciated it and she was very thoughtful and glad to prepare it for me. My favorite dessert place in Daytona Beach.

We arrived around 6 pm only 1 other couple in the whole place. It took 15 minutes for them to take our order. The waitress asked the other couple if they wanted a refill on their water. My wife and my tea were empty and she didn’t ask if we wanted a refill. The food was ok, but I’ve had much better. Won’t be going back to this establishment.

Really cute place and concept. We came in at 225 not realizing they were shutting down but they were nice enough to let us eat for a bit. The sushi still tasted pretty good and would probably be even better during the lunch rush. We’ll definitely be visiting again.
