Great local sushi and hibachi restaurant. Put an order online while at a kids’ event and swung in on the way home. Keep in mind it’s handmade sushi, not fast food, so a reasonable amount of time is needed for them to make your order. One hit against them is the lack of detail when ordering sushi rolls online. A good amount of the rolls named don’t actually have a description of what all is in them, while the paper menu available in the store does have that information. It can make choosing what to get when ordering online a bit more difficult.

Everything is drown in sauce you can’t taste anything but the sauce which isn’t great. Scallops weren’t cleaned properly, and even with the excessive sauce, you could taste the dirty dishwasher flavor of old scallops. The steak wasn’t seasoned so you could tell that it had gone bad- definitely wasn’t fresh and was over cooked. Place is BYOB. Really weird experience. Definitely not going back. We’ve come here a lot over the years. The food is good, but we’ve had a lot of service issues. (Forgetting my husbands entire meal, things taking an extended time). Today, I called to see if they had a wait for hibachi. I was told no, and to come over. I arrived with my husband and 5 hungry kids only to be told that we needed a reservation and no one was at all apologetic for the mix up. We left and went elsewhere. I know there’s staffing issues that can cause delays, but giving accurate info is basic and makes a big difference to customers. I’m not sure I’ll go back.

Can good food trump terrible service? For me no… food orders take over an hour to prep (can’t even say cook because it’s sushi). I don’t mind a wait but when the it’s 40 minutes past the time you said pick it up there a real problem with your service. The counter staff clearly don’t care enough to help or try to expedite service.

Waste of money if you’re ordering sushi. Just drive the extra 10 minutes to Sake Hana. Sakura’s sushi is tasteless and low quality. Sushi is as much about presentation as about flavor and Sakura’s has neither. I ordered shumai (which were soggy and unseasoned), a spicy california roll and a seaside roll. Both are fairly simple and hard to mess up. The california roll was fine, the rice was dry and calling the sauce spicy is a stretch. The seaside roll was pretty awful. It’s supposed to be topped with kani, avocado and mango but instead of all three, different slices had one of the three toppings and no matter which topping, it was bland. The knife work was atrocious with some pieces being huge and others less than a half inch thick. I had a bad experience years ago here and wanted to give them a second try but it was a waste of money and time.

Ordered take out online, arrived 25 minutes later as told and then waited another 40 minutes for the food. I ordered noodles!!! At this point I was scared to eat the food. Got home, it was cold terrible food!! I didn’t even get the correct complete order. Will never go back. The “chicken” was very very strange.
