Salt Pepper Ketchup is a true gem of a place, located in Hawthorne,on Central Ave just off Lafayette. It is a rather tiny place with only a couple of tables inside, so it may be best to use it as a grab and go. In addition to the standard breakfast sandwiches , Salt Pepper Ketchup offers a wonderful variety of sandwiches and wraps for you to enjoy. The favorite sandwich here is the Chopped Cheese Sandwich, which to those unfamiliar, is a popular sandwich served in many bodegas in the area. It consists of chopped ground beef or chicken, cheese, onions, peppers, lettuce and tomato with a slightly spicy house sauce to top, on a panini roll. I found mine to be most satisfying and substantial (I even had enough to take home for later). I also found it remarkable, that this was literally a one man operation, and he handled his duties very well, both handling customers and cooking with equal attentiveness, all with a friendly smiling disposition. Came in and was instantly greeted with a smile by the owner. He gave us recommendations on what was popular and brought out some food ahead of time while waiting for our main orders. Ended up loving everything getting the tres golpes sliders, chopped cheese, buffalo chicken cheesesteak, and loaded fries. Will definitely be back again and recommend to anyone in the area.

I have followed Salt Pepper Ketchup’s Instagram for well over a year now, and the day has finally had arrived — I have finally tried one of their LEGENDARY SANDWICHES. Of all the sandwiches that looked entirely tempting to order (see menu pictures), I showed the owner a picture of the “SPK Central Cut Breakfast Sandwich”, and in no minute at all, he began to make it fresh in front of me.

Honestly, we were so excited to try this restaurant out. The restaurant has great reviews online, and the Instagram page is amazing. The owner was super nice and respectful. We walked in and it wasn’t even busy. We ordered two empanadas, a tres golpe slider and another sandwich.

First time here! I tried the Chopped Cheese sandwich and some Cheese fries. I thought everything was great but my cardiologist would not be very happy with me. Hey, everything in moderation! This place is less than 2 miles from my house, so this could be dangerous. Of course, if I WALK … at least I’ll burn some calories on my way to cheese heaven. Yummmmmmm. I’ll be back to try something cheesier.

I can’t believe I didn’t know you guys were in Hawthorne! My first chopped cheese experience was a success! The chopped cheese and Reynoso breakfast sandwich were delicious. The large waffle sandwich is like four sandwiches!!!! We’ll be back soon!
