Horrible brunch today with grouchy service. What happened?!? This used to be my favorite brunch in Talbot county. New management? Everything was just meh. It felt like Denny’s.

Delicious beef tenderloin for dinner one night followed by an amazing brunch on Sunday. This place is worth every penny. Service is friendly and attentive with being stuffy. Can’t wait to get back here.

Food was good to very good. Avacado fries were unique and tasty. Deep fried but still firm structure probably frozen 1st then fried, either way, well executed. Smoked Blue fish pate was also very good. Crab cake was good, ratio of lump to backfin could have been better. The chicken breast and confit leg was also good, porcini coating wasn’t very noticeable, but mushroom essence was good in the sauce. Sticky toffee pudding was dangerously delicious. Service was off as Oxford recently had flooding and Tavern was busier than normal but 2 servers were not able to provide adequate/timely service, drinks especially, at the beginning it was like begging to get attention, but once we had her attention we ordered as much as we could at once not knowing how long things would taste. Our server could have handled things better despite the challenges. As the Tavern emptied out service response was better but still uneven. Tables went uncleaned around the dining area for long stretches. Long holiday weekend should been a time when staffing had better coverage and especially since the Tavern was one of the few places open locally due to the high water situation – all hands on deck mentality should have applied. All said, I would return.

We recently had a great meal with excellent service in a colonial, pub atmosphere.

Outstanding all around. The sirloin steak was amazing, the oyster pot pie was decadent, the double baked potato was fit for a Czar and the pecan pie should be ILLEGAL it was so good.

Had a great lunch: Carmelized Onions & Fontina Cheese grilled on sourdough bread. And for desert, Pavlova with fresh berries. Service also great.

WHAT To Expect: hearty American (w/ a British angle!) tavern/pub cuisine, set in a wonderfully historic pre-Revolution functioning inn, in Oxford, along MD’s eastern shore.

Stopped in for a drink or two. Cocktails were delicious! We were there between lunch and dinner and the place was practically empty. Very nice staff, good atmosphere.

A great place for lunch on a nice day when you can sit outside with a view of the water and ferry dock. The inside is a little dark and rustic.
