We found Sama Zama when looking for a quick bite. We wound up with a truly enjoyable meal of fresh food that was cooked well, served fast, and was absolutely delicious. This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve found in KCMO, and I will be back. Everything here was clean, orderly, simple and executed perfectly. They also have a nice selection of sodas and other drinks.

Honestly hit the spot in a way I can’t describe. The food was absolutely incredible, especially the onigiri and seaweed salad. Our server was lovely and took great care of us. It was so homey and yet made me feel like I was back in DC dropping by the local shop on my rush back from work to grab a warm and filling treat for later. 10/10 experience!

This is officially my favorite restaurant in KC! The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, with beautiful art on the walls and lots of natural light. Everything on the menu looks amazing and was obviously curated by the owner with a lot of care. The salmon onigiri was a great starter, the shrimp and calamari were so fresh and cooked perfectly, and the sasadango dessert imported from Japan was light and refreshing. The person who served our food was so nice and gave us recommendations for our food, which I really appreciated. This is a great place to go if you want fairly priced, delicious food that won’t make you feel heavy afterwards. I feel very happy knowing I supported a small business and an owner who has very caringly brought fantastic and fresh Japanese cuisine to KC.

I ordered the fried chicken curry and it came out quickly and was very tasty. The waitress was very nice. Their drinks are non refillable and water bottles will cost you $1 each but you are able to bring your own drink! I would recommend this place for smaller groups of 4 or less. It looked like there was a sweets shop in the same building, unfortunately they were closed when we went.

First time here and absolutely in love. My household has been to Japan a couple of times and this is a great taste back here at home. Planning on returning visits to make sure we work our way through the entire menu. Always a treat to enjoy a cold CC Lemon with tonkatsu

We were happy to discover this Hidden gem in Kansas City when looking for Japanese food. I thoroughly enjoyed the ramen. It seems like portions are generous for the price, and the quality is great. The service was incredibly fast and friendly. One thing to keep in mind is that tap water is not available to customers, but you are allowed to bring in any non-alcoholic beverage you like. To-go boxes are also $1. Thank you for a marvelous experience and for being so welcoming and kind.

I wish I could give more stars to this place. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in KC. The food was out of this world. Got the curry, gyoza and dessert as well! Between my husband and I we probably ordered half the menu!

Everything was delicious, very friendly staff. Curry was some of the best I’ve had since I was in Tokyo. Will be becoming a regular. There is a lot of variety in their menu as well.
