You can’t beat Sammy’s for happy hour! Even though we sat outside the booths were comfortable and it’s still enclosed. We went for the duck tacos the pizza lettuce wraps and more. It was all good! So a lot of people with their dogs in the patio. So you don’t have to leave them at home 🙂

Quality: I give a good rating. Reminds me of California pizza kitchen for some reason. May be because of non traditional pizza toppings. The Asian bbq salad is delicious. The kids meal are okay. I tried the kids meal myself. The portions are adequate for kids. The original score is 4 out of 5. This is the first visit for me. So I can’t comment on reliability. However, I probably wouldn’t come back if I were to visit SD again, because I’m not pizza crazy.

Group of friends and I had a great time on 11/11 at lunch. Food was great and the best tomato soup I ever had at a restaurant. Our server was very attentive and worked very hard for 10 of us.

Sammy’s was our favorite place to dine and celebrate birthdays for many years in the past but we didn’t come here for several years. Today we went and I felt kind of nostalgic. They are probably one of the long standing businesses on Del Mar Highlands Plaza, so many others gone, like Casa Sol y Mar, that was leveled and replaced with a parking lot, or Sushia and IHop.

Best pizza spot in San Diego. The best ones to order are the Margherita and goat cheese pizzas. If you show up during happy hour they will have some pizzas and plates for half off.

Great decor and very friendly staff (felt bad, b/c they seemed understaffed that day) but we expected more of the food (the hummus was very tasty, but the flatbread was overdone, the curried cauliflower was tasty, but soggy and the newest item had fantastic color, but we expected better flavor)

Nice looking place to dine and good location. The menu was nice and easy to choose from and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Hummus appetizer and the grilled chicken woodfire pizza. Everything tasted great.
