First visit 2/10/19: Sam’s Southern Eatery is a chain of fast-food, sit-down type restaurants that serves burgers, po’ boys, chicken strips, buffalo wings, seafood (fried and grilled), and seafood and chicken salads. They get in seafood every other day (I asked), so it should be fresh. The fish, shrimp & oyster combo platter I had was very good. I was amazed at the size of the oysters and they tasted out of this world. I wasn’t fond of the green beans or the red beans and rice; too bad they didn’t offer a small salad as one of their side options. The kids loved their burger, grilled cheese sandwich, and fries. My 3 Fish, 3 Shrimp, and 3 Oysters was $13.99, the kid Grilled Cheese was $5.99, and the Southern Double Burger with Cheese was $8.49 ($7.99 + .50 for cheese). I was charged $2.49 for a large tea, but the kids drinks were free this visit (one had water and the 5-year-old had Sprite). The total cost, including tax, was $33.75. Obviously, if you don’t get seafood, your tab will be cheaper, but if you can afford it, the seafood is definitely worth the price. Add great customer service and you have a winning combination.

This place was decent at first, but has went down hill very quickly. We have been here a few times in the past but most likely will not be back. The place is hot, humid, and disgusting, tables are dirty, trash lying around in the floors and under tables. Flies buzzing around all over the place, service was slow, food took forever to get and when it finally arrived it was cold. Who wants to eat cold fried shrimp and trying to fight the flies for first bite?

Chicken tenders dry and hard. Fish tasted good but could only eat a little due to overly greasy. Okra burnt and chewy. Mashed potatoes were just potato skins with gravy on top. Tasted like dirt. And the one thing a southern restaurant should never mess up is the sweet tea, was terrible. I thought she brought unsweetened by mistake at first. Also I was treated like an extreme I convenience by waitress for even being there

Fried oysters are fried dough with oyster tracings and do not taste edible whatsoever. Mac n cheese is old, Philly cheese steak is old/frozen/ doesn’t taste right. My children who are boys and eat every thing wouldn’t even eat the French fries. Star is for great customer service.

I had ordered cheese sticks they were very burnt. It took a while to get them. The waitress never came back to check on us. I ordered the chicken fried steak. I did not like it at all. the garlic bread you could tell was frozen. Might give it another try someday but wasn’t to our liking. And was pretty expensive.

We had lunch here today and were pleased overall. I had the fried shrimp PoBoy and it was very good. My husband had fried gizzards and he said they were okay, but the breading didn’t have much flavor. Service was great, it was clean. Prices were fair. Would eat here again!
