This place is equally as amazing as the Sam’s in Joplin. They have a lovely staff and the food is just incredible. Biggest shrimp I’ve ever had, and their portions are super generous. In fact, I thought they made a mistake and brought us too much food, but no… It was all our order. I can’t stop raving about Sam’s Southern Eatery, BEST place in town in my opinion.

Food is usually good, but my order tasted nasty (I told them it tasted “off” to be polite) tonight and there was noticeable less meat on the sandwich than usual and my dad’s food was cold. I called and told them my complaints and asked if could get refund or replacement order and the woman who answered the phone called me a liar and said she wouldn’t make the situation right. She showed me zero respect and was rude when I never said or did anything to warrant her reaction. I won’t be giving them anymore business.

Love love love their food; it’s amazing! Fish is so tender and the shrimp are big and tasteful. Now the reason for 4 stars. They are supposed to open at 10. I wanted to stop and get food to take to work. 3 employees showed up at 10 and said they wouldn’t be ready to take my order for 10 mins and then another 10 or so to get my food ready. I didn’t have the time to wait. I believe that you should arrive at work before opening time so that you can prepare for opening. I still recommend because the food is great and prices are worth it.

A little pricey and not that great. The gumbo has fake crab in it which has a really strange texture, and the gumbo tastes as if it was cooked in a pressure cooker – the consistency is mushy. Which is sad because it has a good flavor. The fried oysters are really large, but always undercooked, and the catfish fillets are tough on the ends so only the middle is worth eating. Maybe they fry ahead and then put them in the microwave when ordered? I only stop in occasionally for the crab cakes. They’re good, but pricey. Everything else you can get done better at Red Hot & Blue.

This place is awesome. Service was way above and beyond. The value for what you got was the best around. My mom and I had one dinner between us and my uncle had lunch and dinner out of his one meal. It was the best fish I’d had since having fish and chips from the UK. These guys are great and should be as popular as places like Fred & Reds or Bit R’s.
