Santucci’s Original Square Pizza was founded by the late Joseph and Philomena Santucci. Their incredible story began in South Philadelphia at 10th and Carpenter, where they first started their family. In 1959, they moved to Northeast Philadelphia and opened the very first Santucci’s Original Square Pizza on “O” Street in Juniata Park. Their family recipe for making pizza in a square pan with the sauce on top of the cheese was considered unconventional at first, but quickly became a pizza staple for lunch and dinner at restaurants in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately we were not impressed! We placed an advanced order (an hour before pickup) for a 4:45 pickup, so that we can pick up and be on our way. But we arrived on time and had to wait an additional 7 minutes. Pricing: when I think Large, I expect large, especially for the price. Not so much. About the size of a (full sized) 16×11 cookie sheet, the pizza was nothing to write home about. Sauce lacked flavor, cheese was meagerlly present and the dough was not risen to the expectation of a scillician style pizza. The thickness was about half of what I can order from other restaurants. We also ordered wings, which were really good. Portion sizes of each piece were very plentiful, unlike smaller portions found in other local spots. We did enjoy those and the celerry was plentiful. Howevee, for a restaurant to proclaim being home of the original square pizza, there’s a lot of other competitors who outshine this flagship offering. This was our first time visiting and possibly our last time ordering pizza from them but would be open to their other offerings. Atmosphere looks to be nice. No one was dining in and those waiting for pickups continued waiting after I came for my advanced order. Outdoor seating consists of a side patio thoughtfully decorated. Staff was concise, no side talk to the customers but thankfully, no one was checking their phone (or they were doing it outside of customer visibility). Wifi is provided, and there are televisions whole you wait. They offer fundraising opportunities and a catering menu.

If you haven’t tried this pizza, run, don’t walk! It’s delicious and BYOB too. Sipping a beer, thoroughly enjoying my pizza, watching the Phillies game; a perfect after work experience. The place is super clean and adorably decorated. The staff is always pleasant. I used to go to the one on Broad Street but happy to have one closer to me now. Do try it. You will not be disappointed! #itshiptobeasquare

One of the best Buffalo chicken cheese steaks I have had! It tasted extremely fresh and wasn’t greasy. Pizza is also very good. A BYOB spot if you want to eat at the place.

Good crust. Good ingredients. BUT, they seem to bake the crust (topped with cheese) first, then reheat after topping the pizza, this resulted in a crust that really wasn’t “married” to the other ingredients (undercooked sauce, as well as having a charred crust perimeter. Sauce was relatively tasteless. Cheese (for a pizza advertised as extra cheese), was sparse. Edible, but not to my taste, maybe it will be to yours. The restaurant doesn’t have waiters, strictly order at the counter, and bring to the table yourself. Fountain drinks available.

Living in Downingtown for 10yrs +, and we finally have Awesome Pizza! The crust is crispy, and every slice has some crust, so you get that amazing crunch when you finish a slice. The sauce is so delicious, and by placing the sauce over the cheese the oven imparts wonderful flavor. I usually get Sausage with Meatballs, however if you truly wanna go overboard add extra cheese to that combination… Yum!!! Also, the staff there is amazing, and super friendly.

I wanted a different pizza so I decided to try Santuccis. Online ordering was easy and staff was very nice when I picked up my order. The pizza was great and not like normal pizza. It didn’t have a ton of cheese which is ok, as I don’t like a lot anyway.
