Best part of my meal was the cornbread; not too sweet and lots of corn taste, not dry. Tried the pork belly burnt ends; a bit dry and too sweet for my taste. The brisket is good but does not have the smokey taste I was expecting. Too pricey for the portion. Staff was nice. Service was fast. Outdoor seating is available.

Came here a bit before happy hour to get some work done. The place is absolutely huge but wasn’t really crowded. I got the fried avocado tacos which came with 2. It cost about $9 and wasn’t too breaded either, which I thought was a plus. They are definitely more on the smaller side, but a perfect snack before dinner in my opinion. The staff was friendly and I would probably come here again if I’m in the area!

My quest to find good BBQ in California continues. Unfortunately, Sauced did not end my quest. We stopped by for lunch at about 2pm on a Sunday. It wasn’t very busy. We decided to sit outside on the patio. There was only one other party on the patio. We waited awhile before anyone came over to even take our drink order. While we waited for someone to come over and take our drink order, I noticed several employees sitting in the dining area talking, one was on a laptop, could have been the manager, and one was on their cellphone. We witnessed this several times throughout our meal. In my opinion, that is highly unprofessional. Employees should not be sitting around at tables in the dining area, busy or not, especially since we were sitting there waiting for someone to wait on us. I was hoping the food was going to be good, but it wasn’t. BBQ was just ok. The sides weren’t even ok. We ordered the sweet potato casserole and it was essentially flavorless. I also ordered the cornbread, which was equally flavorless. The waffle fries were good. The baked beans had decent flavor. We also ordered the jalapeño grenades as an appetizer. They were ok, very spicy. Once we actually had our order taken, the food came out rather quickly. They brought out our meals before the appetizer, which always kind of bothers me, but not a major issue. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I didn’t. I would not go back. We should have ate at the Italian restaurant next door.

Finally found a local joint that scratches that BBQ itch. (One less reason to go back to Texas!)

Two of us went to sauced for lunch on Thursday. We arrived about 12:45pm. The servers were busy on their phones and not much interested in providing a good customer experience. We ordered the two meat combo with two sides. We picked 1/2 chicken, 4 StLouis Ribs, side or potato salad and waffle cut fries. The chicken half was large, tasty but dry. The ribs were meaty, good rub, nice bark but also dry. The potato salad came with chopped scallions and bacon on top, and it was delicious. The waffle cut fries were very good, fresh and plentiful. I believe this to be a typical chain style barbecue restaurant where they cook each days meats the day before, so you’re being served the meat they cooked/smoked the day before. They then reheat the old meat in the steamer, sauce it and put it under the salamander for a minute before serving. If there not doing this then they’re doing something similar as the meats were at least a day old. This kind of restaurant has staff arrive at 10:30am for an 11:00am opening. No time to properly prepare and smoke meat for same day service.
