Was in town a few years ago on a work trip and was told I HAD to check out Sauceman’s for Charlotte BBQ. Went with the standard brisket and pulled pork with the BBQ beans and fried corn and, because it was a surprise, the hush puppies. Everything was outstanding! Coming from West Texas, I like to think I’ve got a good gauge on BBQ and Sauceman’s rated among the best I’ve tasted. Every element was great, the proteins carried outstanding smoke flavors and the textures were spot on. The sides were all among the best I’ve ever had. The fired corn was delicious and the texture was an added bonus, genius! The hush puppies and beans were spot on, texturally and with the flavors. I could not have been more happy with my Charlotte BQ experience on my day trip into the city.

They made some subtle changes since I was here last, but they made a huge difference. I would now rank this as my second favorite BBQ in Charlotte (Midwood Smokehouse being first). It’s way better than Mac’s Speedshop now. The decor of the restaurant changed a little and it’s really well done now. There’s a lot of wood incorporated and a garage door leading out to the patio. They added sauce options so now you have the choice between vinegar, mustard, and smokey bbq sauces. The vinegar and mustard were my favorite, but the smokey was also good. They also have complimentary pork skins now which were very good.

A great spot for lunch, all the food an sides were amazing. I really enjoyed the 3 different sauces they had to offer, the mustard sauce was my favorite. I would make sure to hit this place for lunch if you’re in the area.

Yaaaass! Finally! BBQ we can recommend! Lost a few points, being out of brisket & sausage but my family was satisfied & all the fingers were licked. We’ll be back!

Easy to find, nice and clean. Music was ok but needs more variety. Brisket was great sauce variety was good. Chicken is tender and delicious. Alittle to much spice on chicken. Ribs ok, I must of had a end piece, but it was good. The sides were great potatoe salad, collard greens, mac-n-cheese . Ooh I forgot about the pull pork nice. Overall it was a good idea to stop by the Sauceman’s.

What’s not to love about a bbq joint that uses ghost peppers and calls their signature sauce “Love and Smoke”. Smoke, spice, free cracklings and local drafts. Nice. Can’t believe it took me 12 years to check this out. (Cool new deck too!)

Delicious food, had enough to bring home to reheat for lunch the next day. Tasted even better the next day.

Pulled pork was dry. That should be all I need to say. But I’ll share my other comments. First, my pulled pork sandwich was served on a plain grocery store bun. No toast. No butter. Dry bread. Second, the meal only includes one side, which is pretty cheap. I got the fried corn, which was very good.

My first visit here. Very impressed. BBQ chicken was awesome, moist, tender and smoky with a spicy rub and tomato based BBQ sauce. The BBQ pork was good even though I like mine a bit smokier. Fair local beer draft selection could be expanded…good iced tea! Comfortable casual atmosphere and clean. Even though it was counter-service, the staff checked on us often to verify all was good. Cardboard carry out boxes (I hate styrofoam). We will return.
