Super cute tiny place! The curry flavor was great! And the miso soup’s taste was very interesting! Not the usual miso soup taste, but it was yummy! The miso soup comes with your curry order btw It’s also BYOB which was amazing! Highly recommend! Also, the entrance is behind the “My Way Pocha”, lowkey hard to find, but worth it!

The atmosphere is chill and selection of music was cool. It’s simplistic decor is welcoming. We ordered Chicken Karaage, Goodfellas(roll) and 2 curry katsu which comes with the most delicious pickles and their version of miso soup (with veg and pork…delish)

New curry house in town, but this one beats the rest IMO. Their curry is on the spicier side, thicker, tastes delicious with karaage chicken and rice. I can order egg on the side too to make even more sumptuous. The chicken is also cooked to perfection, soft moist with a crispy layer outside.

Take it as a compliment but this little hole in the wall have some excellent curry. Matching it up with different type of protein is delicious. My favorite is the hamburger. That medium cook with that spicy curry does the job . To me it just soak up the flavor. They have side dish to order and sushi roll. This was a great find for me.

Sazanami is small with a few workers. There are about 2 tables for groups of 4, a few tables, and counter seating to watch the chefs work. It reminds me a lot of restaurants in Japan. Even with a smaller staff, they are excellent in their craft.

Sazanami provides some of the most complex, beautiful, and delicious food I have ever had the pleasure of eating at a restaurant. I have been to 2 Michelin star Japanese dinners in LA, and they pale in comparison at what is offered at this humble establishment. Every time I come here, I am astonished at how much care and effort goes into these gorgeously plated dishes of curry or karaage or tamago. The chefs are very kind, the aesthetic is very pretty, and the curry is truly something special; an absolute must visit when in NJ and worth a long drive!
