We popped into Schmidt’s yesterday for lunch as we’re touring the area. It’s right across from Crescent Beach with great parking an inside eating area, a sheltered patio (where we sat) and picnic tables beyond that where you can order take out.

What a little gem of a place, we just finished traveling 6 hours and were hungry, another restaurant had a wait so we hit the HoJ. Sat at their little bar and chatted with Alex who was our server. The crawfish fritters were delicious and the the Jambalaya was amazing. We found out the owner comes in early everyday to make the Jambalaya…. What a great taste of Louisiana.

So we have come to the conclusion that service is just what it is in this town. Other then coffee you typically wait 30-60 mins for your food. It’s just a local thing it seems. Once you accept that you’ll be fine.

We had our 85# dog with us so we sat on the patio. Perfect Sunday 8/6/23 afternoon. Excellent, flavorful food – red snapper PO’ Boy and shrimp bisque. Hats off to Jennifer and Rob, our server for making it a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

DELICIOUS!!! Jamba is exceptional and authentic according to a Louisianan person I knew who made it for in the past. Dirty fries are exceptionally sinful! View is great right in front of the beach on a surrounded deck to block the wind but not the sunshine; hats required! Friendly staff and clean, nice bathroom. Thank you peeps!

This Gem is a must visit for everyone that gets the chance to stop in. My family and I were finishing an amazing day exploring the redwoods and the beaches. We were hungry and wanted to watch the sunset.

It wad little or no waiting time for a lunch. The kitchen is small, so you could what a little longer for your food. The tested of food could compensate this time, it is delicious. Extra pros is the vibe and service – everyone is friendly and welcoming.

Love the menu. We had the salad with blackened red snapper (very spicy!) and the shrimp po boy (very fresh and tasty). The bread comes from a bakery in New Orleans and adds excellent flavor. The olive tapenade was delicious. Definitely worth ordering. I loved the flavor of the jambalaya but wish it was more spicy. We were told they dialed it back a little to cater to more people. If I find myself back in Crescent City, we will absolutely visit again.
