Scoops is handsdown, the best place to get a true Carolina hot dog. Fully loaded hot dog is the only way to go. It is CASH ONLY, and the prices did rise to the point I can’t get as many as I would like, but still worth it to me.

I love eating at Scoops, however if I want to eat there I have to take a day off of work, since I work out of town. There hours of operation are so short. People who work 8 to 5 with traffic can’t get there in time to get dinner and bring it home.

Scoops is rated best hot dogs in Lee County (Sanford Herald, 4+ years and counting) for a reason. The hot dogs are excellent, the staff is very friendly, but the line moves at an average pace for fast food around lunch time. Luckily, they have a walk-up window which tends to be a quicker alternative in my experience. Every time I am in the area I try to stop here.

We don’t do red 40 dye or any other for that matter. I didn’t know they were reds till we had left and my son went to eat his lunch. Other than that they were good. I let my son eat them because we were not near anywhere else hoping he would be ok. We paid the price for that. I wish places would distinguish between normal and red hotdogs.

At first I was disappointed because they serve red hot dogs, but then I tasted it. Yummy! What a bite of country deliciousness!!! Be prepared because they are a cash only business, but the prices are really low. $3 gets you 2 hot dogs with all the trimmings.
