Food was okay, I had French toast, bacon and ginger ale. My friend had bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles and a mimosa. Her waffles came out 5-10 minutes after her bacon and eggs. We ate there on a Saturday morning, the restaurant was NOT busy. Total for the both of us before the tip was $57, that’s with the 4% kitchen staff fee.

Great food, service, and views. But the surprise 4% kitchen charge is just silly. Minus two stars for that. Increase your prices by 4% and be honest with us. It says on the menu there is a charge but not how much, leaving you guessing.

Great locally owned restaurant 2/2. The other is in Honolulu. Wonderful menu – lots of interesting combos and fresh – from scratch – get it? Deep fried deviled eggs and bone marrow. Who can resist. Lots of parking and good views. A great bar for happy hour too. And they kept the staff from before! Will 100% make this a local favorite.

We enjoyed Scratch when it was in Chinatown and when it moved to Kakaako and were excited to have a Hawaii Kai location open recently. We tried it for lunch today and were disappointed.

This new Scratch Kitchen location in Hawaii Kai was such a poor experience! I went with a party of four, two children (one of which was young enough for the coloring pictures and crayons) and they had none to provide for my youngest to enjoy while waiting for our order. I rated this an overall 1 star for the fact that our food was delivered completely delayed, also for the price you pay for the dishes, NOT WORRH IT! We ordered a couple of appetizers thinking that would be timed out to be first to arrive for our experience. Nope. It came out with our entrees and our youngest child was the last to have her simple keiki popcorn chicken meal to our table. Then when we paid for our bill, we saw we were being charged for a 4%“kitchen fee”. I told our waiter we don’t appreciate that added onto our bill and I definitely won’t return to this establishment again for the price they charge. Pathetic!!!

I review fairly. Our waiter was awesome trouble is the chef. Everyone’s food came out 1 at a time mine was 10th a later. I had the ribs that were so over cooked the bone fell out when I picked it up and there was just a slather of bbq sauce across the top barely warmed up. Plate of mush. Our first time there. Friends we brought said they won’t be back unfortunately ps there is no atmosphere, they described it like a cafeteria. Sorry, telling you to do better. We are local Hawaii Kia and we’re excited to try

the food was mediocre. nothing at all like the other scratch locations. its more like a bad chain restaurant quality food. ranch dressing over fried devil eggs, chunky gelatinous gravy, lame chili fries… service was not impressive and in fact the server was oddly antagonistic. portions were huge for the price, ill give them that. but thats kinda meaningless when the food isn’t that good. very disappointed, wont go back.
