Sorry for the bad photos but these grilled sandwiches are the best. EVERYTHING, including the corned beef is made from scratch. Also, without a doubt one of the most affordable eateries in Newport! Great Quality, Great Pricing!

Have you ever loved a place so much that you fear sharing its amazingly delicious secret will ruin what makes it so special? That’s how I feel about this place! After living here a year and trying all the Newport and Middletown breakfast spots I can say – this is my most favorite of them all!

Our go-to when we visit Newport each year. Pictured is the chicken & waffles sandwich, which, warning: is super sweet, it was too rich for me that day, but ugh they did a great job. Lovely staff, and seems loved by locals as well as tourists!

The steak egg and cheese was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. I ate here months ago and I find myself thinking about that sandwich so often that I had to come back and leave a review. The sourdough bread was toasted perfectly and it made the sandwich. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Not much seating inside so just know that going in.

Very slow, but friendly service. Their chicken waffle sandwich is a MUST try! Reasonable prices.

We arrived and sat at our table at 10:21. There were two other new folks inside. It was very hot inside. No air movement. Waiter was excellent. Waited nearly an hour for our food. The other guy waited but left because he hadn’t received his meal within an hour. It was stifling inside waiting so long. I wouldn’t have a grip except it was so stinking hot. The food was decent. I had biscuits and gravy but they didn’t put much on my biscuit, which was an English muffin. The waiter asked how our food was and was it worth the wait. I said no. The food was decent but the atmosphere was horrible.

Stopped here to meet up with our friend. A quaint little place with seating inside and out. I needed to leave early to meet someone else. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. My French Toast and my wife’s grilled cheese frittata were both very good. It is a very nice place for a quick bite. Parking is limited to the street and can be a challenge as the day goes on.

Such a great spot. Breakfast there with my pals this morning, we all left satisfied and stuffed. My Zeechy (sausage) Benny was hearty, savory and huge. The spud nuggets are some of the best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had.

Quick pit stop on our road trip, and happy we chose to stop at Scratch Kitchen! They had delicious sandwiches with plenty of love cooked into them – they were delicious melts! Also, you HAVE to get the SPUD NUGGETS – must!!!! They are incredibly flavorful bundles of herby potatoes that we haven’t had anywhere else. Loved them.
