Last week we had the opportunity to visit the Screaming Burro for the second time. The first time about a month ago we tried their Free Bird Chicken Sandwich. We ordered the grilled version and thought it was pretty good. On this second visit we thought we would try the breaded and fried version of the Free Bird. We both agreed that we liked the fried version better. Same layering of ingredients, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickle. Yet we thought the crispier outside of the fried version just tasted better. On this 2nd visit we also order a chocolate shake and a strawberry shake. These shakes were very tasty. Lots of flavor and near perfect consistency. On our next visit we will start working thru the burgers on the menu. Our photo shows the long line at the pickup window. Even though the line was extended, the wait wasn’t too bad. Very good food here.

3 generations. 3 states. Met up at the Burro. We ordered and DEVOURED every burger, both fry options, onion rings, queso and an order of chicken bites. From ages 5 to 65… DAMN THAT’S GOOD! It’s Unanimous… 5 stars for the Screaming Burro!

We are constantly looking for fast casual options for our 9 year old who has Celiac’s. Usually places don’t have any gluten free options at all, and if they do they aren’t educated enough about potential issues with preparation that we have to avoid. The Screaming Burro was absolutely fantastic. First, the food was amazing. It did take a bit but that is because they make the food after you order. The burgers rank right up there with five guys in my opinion.

We beat the afternoon lunch rush which was a plus due to how busy this place gets compared to available seating. The staff was cheerful and patient with our orders as first timers. The inside decor is very thematic and it’s cool that they bring in the lake atmosphere right to the menu.

Our family had a great experience at the Burro. Went on a summer Saturday over the lunch hour and the place wasn’t busy at all (??) so we had no trouble with service and we all loved our burgers, fries, and shakes. ( strawberry was really yum) Son described them as “Shake Shack” style burgers. Will definitely be back!

Their burgers and fries are so good I love their fries and everything was fresh! Service was good they were polite and friendly. Didn’t get irritated with me for asking questions about different food on the menu and they didn’t rush me. Thanks guys for the pleasant experience and great food! PLEASE READ! Hello, I recently just ordered food from the drive thru. The man working was very helpful and was great to talk to. I ordered the, “LONE STAR” meal. It was excellent! I took it home to eat and was very impressed to how juicy and flavorful the burger was! The fries were cooked perfect and complemented the burger. I also got a shake, onion rings. The shake was very delicious and thick. Onion rings were crispy and flavorful. Also recommend the burro sauce. Everything was fresh, definitely recommend to everyone and will be back soon!

This restaurant is pulling through like champs. Customer service, on point. Food was absolutely delicious. We spent a couple days in Okoboji to swim but found that the town was short staffed/ running skeleton crews. They were doing their best, but you could feel the tension everywhere except here. Thank you! I will give this place all the stars!

The burgers were delicious. The service was EXTREMELY poor. Ordered online for curbside pick up and the wait was only supposed to be 10 minutes. We had part of our order 20 minutes PAST the stated pick up time and were then told their shake machine was extremely slow, so they asked if we could come back later to pick up our shakes and that they would also refund us then for the shakes. We were there from out of town, so coming back wasn’t an option. I asked if I could just do a refund now and call it good. They said that no one working could do a refund. They went back in to try to figure it out and came back and asked if I would accept a gift card instead of a refund. Again, we were there from 3.5 hours away, so not an option. The went back inside to try to figure out what they could do. At this point we were there 40 minutes past our pickup time and the food we did have was getting cold. I went inside to let them know that I was leaving to run the food we DID have to the hungry kids that were waiting for it and then would be back to figure out the shakes and refund. Ran the food to kids only to discover that we were also short a burger. Went back to the restaurant to get the missing burger and figure out the shake situation. The burger was done fairly quickly and they informed me the manager was on the way and would be there in another 30 minutes or so to address the refund. Again, we were trying to leave town and they offered a gift card, which I declined. He then proceeded to tell me that he could offer me a chocolate shake, just the vanilla wasn’t working!!! We had three chocolate shakes and ONE vanilla shake on our order! A majority of this situation could have been avoided had they mentioned it was just the vanilla that wasn’t working!!! So SIXTY minutes after our order was supposed to be finished I left with the remainder of our order! I will also mention that another group of three people was in the restaurant waiting for 45 minutes for their order (missing fries, etc.) to be completed. And while I was waiting for the shakes to be made a car in the drive thru line was tired of waiting and pulled out of the line after they ordered. Sadly, the delicious food was overshadowed by the poor service, ineffective communication, and poor management practices.

If your looking for a great tasting burger different than your average run-of-the-mill drive thru, this is your stop. The wait was a bit longer than your standard drive thru, but I really was wondering how they could put out Restaurant quality food at a drive thu pace.. We ordered the free bird with added bacon jelly and onion rings, and the Cowboy with fries. Good chicken burger, an bacon jelly was delicious. Southwest sauce was a great pair to the onion rings. My husband wished he made his burger a double and compared the size of the patty to be thinner than a plain cheeseburger at the golden arches. He did say it had great flavor. His fries never made it into our bag. We didn’t realize until we were in our hotel for the night so we didn’t go back. In the end, I would go back again and it would take a little coaxing to get my husband to.
