Went to Shady’s Midway on Sunday and was so happy with the food. Ordered ribs,, mashed potatoes and corn. AMAZING! Fast forward 24 hours and the menu has “changed”. Added fancy words like aioli and avocado on everything. Increased the price on the remaining “bar food” left on the menu by $2-$4 an item. The place was not busy at all and we waited 55 minutes to get our food. I am very disappointed in Midway.

After stopping to use the bathroom at the bar because the gas station bathroom was filled, I was so impressed that I got my family of four out of the car to eat an unplanned lunch. Extremely great food. Extremely clean facilities. Extremely clean bathroom. Extremely great service. Everything was excellent.

We used to order food at least once or twice per week, and dine in on occasion. Absolutely enjoyed the food before new ownership. Ordered tonight 2 chicken and rib specials chicken wad very dry and ribs didn’t fall off the bone like normal,couldn’t even scrape the meat off

Severely going down hill since Bruno left and fast! We order out there a lot! Or did. Tonight’s special was wings and pizza 20.00 with one pound and another little bid for and extra pound of wings. We got 2 lbs of wings and the pizza totalled 47$. Math didn’t add up finally got them to give me 10$ back. I was told ” it was a flaw in the system and it’s been overcharging everyone all day giggle”. That was today. Yesterday they weren’t taking cards I found out after getting gas from same system. The food is severely going south as well compared to Bruno and Nicky’s and a lot bigger pricetag to boot. I will be driving the extra mile or two to coborn’s for my needs from now on. The gas station attendants left over from Bruno are the only good thing left in the place and are awesome but the new system and management are ruining it.

I keep trying to get back here to try more menu items ever since learning Bruno runs the place. The guy that runs the place used to also run The Hub Supper Club and everyone likes and appreciates his ideas and menu items. It’s funny because I was looking at the menu and thought it was odd to see menu items you usually wouldn’t see unless you were in a metropolitan area perhaps, and I told the waiter and he said yeah that’s Bruno’s doing, he’s got a knack for this stuff and everyone loves the food. I asked if it was the Bruno I remember, and sure enough it was. So I wasn’t surprised to see a great menu once I knew who was behind it. From the outside it’s hard to tell what kind of place it is, I mean it’s connected to a gas station, so I was expecting some sort of truckers restaurant, but this is just a unique kinda place that’s its own thing. The inside is interesting and the specials are great. They honor military on Mondays with a free meal and drink which just happens to be the day I went in there the first time, so that hooked me also. The only reason I docked it a star has nothing to do with food or service, but I’ve noticed in the handful of times I’ve been in there now that they have their regulars it seems, and I’ve felt observed every time I’m in there like everyone stares. That’s nothing the restaurant can change, but it felt awkward each time, like I wasn’t welcome sorta feeling. I don’t think there’s a fix for that, but it won’t stop me from going again and again for the food.

What used to be our usual spot will now be one of those places we used to go. The service is still great with some of Bruno’s old team, however, the new menu is overpriced and just another Shady’s. Very disappointed in the quality, the options and the price. We’ll miss the unique menu of Rhode’s!

New owners, no livestock truck parking anymore even with fuel purchase. Truckers inn in Sauk centre has ample parking, great food, showers, laundry, a shop. Or clarissa to the north has a really nice cenex station. Take your business else where, they don’t want it here.
