Awesome restaurant!!! The place is a little old but damn the food was good. It’s actually very clean despite the condition of the building. Vegetarian friendly! The lunch special is where it’s at. You get so much food for a good price. So worth it! The egg rolls are not vegetarian but they are amazing! Really crispy and not lacking filling. Service was quick and server was super nice & friendly. She helped me pick a vegetarian dish. The lunch special comes with your dish, rice, soup, and egg rolls. I ordered the home style tofu and I think my husband ordered the orange chicken.

Shan Dong has been my favorite Chinese food restaurant for many years now. However, I came back today after about a year with my fiance and we both got dinner plates of chicken. Both plates of chicken tasted like they were rotten. It had a weird, off-putting flavor coming from the chicken itself that was quite strong to the point I question how nobody noticed before cooking the chicken that it was bad. Service is still pleasant despite them being short staffed but it definitely does not make up for rotten food.

I am still on the hunt for a great Chinese restaurant in El Paso and decided to check this place out a few weeks ago. It was actually really disappointing. I ended up ordering the Moo Goo Gai Pan – chicken with fried rice. This came with an order of egg drop soup and egg roll. I liked that they sat me right away and when I ordered my sprite I liked that they gave me a small pitcher so I wouldn’t be without something to drink and they use paper straws.

I absolutely love this place. It has the best hot and sour soup as well as the best mapo tofu in town. The experience we had tonight was as great as ever. There was 5 of us in our party. Everyone’s food was so tasty and hot. The dinner portions were shareable. They made half portions for my children that were just the right size. Our drinks were filled constantly and the restaurant was clean. The wait staff was busy, but they teamed up and all took turns taking care of us. They do charge a 15% gratuity for parties of 5 and an 18% gratuity for parties larger than 8. We didn’t mind paying automatic gratuity one bit. The servers deserved well above that. I highly recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere, great service, and quality food make for a great dining experience and this restaurant hits the mark every time.

This is a must visit if you are traveling through it love in El Paso. Best egg drop soup, hands down. Go during lunch hours and get a soup and egg rolls with your meal. Stellar customer service, though it can get busy at times. Everything is great on the menu and they have vegetarian options too.

I have always loved their food but unfortunately my experience last Sunday was disappointing. First of all we walk in and get greeted by one of the servers who smiles at us but then starts fighting with the other server about something not sure what I can infer it had something to do with the tables already seated. As our server is taking our order she continues to fight so she’s asking us for our order then proceeds to argue with the same server. This already set a negative vibe for us as we were trying to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing meal . The food was not as it always has been so that was disappointing. So this server rushes us to say our order but then continues to interrupt us because she’s arguing with her coworker. The amount of rice served to us was very little and I did notice that there was a difference in portions for us than for another family there but I dont want to insinuate anything it was just very noticeable. As we are sitting there we notice a customer waiting to be greeted and seated and she waits for a good 10 minutes . She then gets seated and requests the lunch special but the server says oh it just finished I can’t offer the lunch special anymore . She did say she had arrived with enough time but she wasn’t seated , yo which I agree with. How are you going to penalize a customer for your lack of customer service ?!? It used to be a pleasant place to visit with great food but I definitely was not happy with any of it this weekend. So sad because this was our favorite Asian place in town.

Prior two visits were very disappointing. Poor service the main problem. Last night I’d decide to give it a 3rd chance. Mind you that I’ve been a very steady patron for almost 20 years. Last night was strike 3 for me. No welcome smile, no nice to see you again, no greeting at all. Reluctance to explain the menu as I asked for Orange Shrimp. Server muttered only orange chicken. I said you’ve done it for me before. I ordered hot Jasmine to to warm me up…it came out tepid at best. I ordered egg roll for an appetizer. Cold to the core…yesterday’s batch. Then my beef with snow peas…a huge portion came out with half a bowl of sticky white rice. THEN the main course was cold, too, in spots. The gravy was still gelatinous. I could go on and on but the final assault was my bill of $24.99. I’m serious. Sooooo never again for me. I’m now at Teppanyaki Grill on Lee Trevino and for $13.71 behold the difference in the photo. Hot, fresh, and all you can eat.
