Family. Hard work. Darn-good BBQ. That’s what Shane Thompson built his business around. In 2002, Shane ditched his corporate job, tossed his tie and followed a dream with his wife, Stacey. He dusted off his grandfather Big Dad’s secret BBQ recipe and opened up the very first Shack in McDonough, GA.
It wasn’t long before the community noticed how he always gives people more than what they pay for and treats everybody like family.
Oh, and making the best BBQ around helped, too.

My family stopped here after searching to find lunch in the area. After entering we were pleasantly surprised at the menu. I had the BBQ Chicken with Sweet Potato Fries and Slaw, very tastey. For a man the portion of meat may ve considered small. My son had the Ribs and loved them. My husband had the sandwich platter and liked it very much. Prices are high but food was good. This would probably be more of a treat for us if we lived in this area. Clean and nicely decorated. Large booths. friendly service too. See photos. $$$

Keajah had bad customer service. She gave us attitude towards my whole family stared down at us and made us feel uncomfortable. We are Mexicans, food was great but never coming back here again. She spoiled our lunch and gave us a racist vibe. You guys should get rid of here on my humble opinion.

Visiting in NC so I thought I could find really good BBQ. Not the case here. Food was “ok”. We both had pulled pork – no taste. Glad they had good sauces. Baked beans were right out of a can. The place is clean, the staff is somewhat friendly. They do give large portions and prices are reasonable. I gave it a shot, but don’t think I would go back or recommend to a friend.

So today I FINALLY FINALLY found my new place for Ribs!!! Let’s break this down: Place was super clean and nicely decorated! Customer service: The staff was very nice and suggested something that was on point with what I wanted. Now the most important part, the food! I ordered the lunch basket – ribs with baked beans and mac and cheese. The meat was sooooooooooooo good!! Lots of flavor, tender, cooked to perfection. My dog was all over me with the smell of it (yes, I shared some meat with her ❤️). The beans are delicious and the mac and cheese was also good. The food was very hot even when I got home 5 mins later. If I like something I will eat it all and this is what just happened! 10 out of 5 stars to Shane’s Rib Shack!! I will be coming back for more, I am going to try their wings…I am sure they are out of this world!! I highly recommend this place❤️❤️❤️ !

What a find! I had bbq. It was delicious! My friend had a burger. She was very pleased with her meal. Hers was made to order so it took longer to prepare than my food. But she said it was worth the wait. Next time I will order an appetizer and ask the my bbq come out at the same time as my friend’s food.

BBQ was good, coleslaw was good, ribs were just okay, the mac and cheese was not good. Location was clean. Plenty of parking spaces outside. You walk up to order and you can take it to go or they can bring it to your table. You can order online as well. Food seemed fairly priced. They have a kids menu.

The slaw and sauces were the gems at this place. We tried every meat. They were all dry, no taste. I gave review a 3 because of slaw & sauce. They made the sandwiches, ribs, and chicken have a decent flavor. I loved their original sauce. Staff were friendly. The BEST slaw I’ve ever EATEN! Casual country atmosphere.
