We found the restaurant by googling restaurants for Frankfort,KY. We were headed back to Indiana from our weekend trip to Tennessee. My husband and I prefer to eat at NON chain restaurants so we gave Shelby’s a try. We could NOT have been more pleased! We arrived at 0720p. With closing time being 0800pm we were concerned food quality may be questionable. BUT everything was cooked fresh, made perfectly to our order and served HOT! We were NOT rushed at all to finish our meal but did manage to finish at 0759p. Prices were MORE than reasonable. I DEFINITELY recommend this family owned restaurant!!! We will definitely stop in again when we are in the area!!!

They didn’t seem to be able to handle lunch rush well. It took an hour for us to get our meals after we ordered, and although everyone likes a thick burger, it was dry, my bacon wasn’t on it, and there was honestly too much hamburger. I couldn’t taste my bread or cheese. They were generous with their portions though.

First time visit from Delaware. Everything was very clean, service and food were good. We ordered a fried bologna sandwich and cheese burger. Finished with a pecan pie tart which was awesome and perfectly sized.

The best Philly chicken I’ve ever eaten! It was a quick to go order and HOT! The staff was extremely nice. I also had one of the orange cupcakes, amazing job to whoever made those. I will definitely be back.

Shelby’s Diner, a seemingly family-owned and operated restaurant, sits next to a Subway off of Versailles Road. I have dined in once; twice I placed “to go” orders. That’s the good part; here’s the bad. It was hard to tell anytime I’ve been there whether I was at a restaurant or a day care center. I was privy to watching someone (relative I suppose) hold a very young baby while it threw up–a lot–and she begged for extra napkins. The owner was outside on a smoke break. It would appear the entire diner is run by family members, who do not always get along. Not my idea of exactly a great dining atmosphere.
