We ate here 3 different times during our stay. Our first day the food was ok. We came back Saturday and Sunday and tried the shrimp and grits from their newly introduced brunch menu. They are to die for! I wanted to find the chef and give him/her a hug lol 5 star dish.

Great resort to stay and play. Lots of music entertainment to enjoy. Beach is beautiful and private. Beach chairs and umbrella are an extra charge. Be aware music is loud (even at 2 am) and can be heard inside the rooms. Breakfast buffet in the morning was great too!!!

Came to Shephard’s Resort and the Ocean Flame buffet for Christmas expecting more. Quality of the buffet items and the overall variety is mediocre. Sadly, not the Las Vegas buffet served with Vegas quality and Vegas fanfare it could be. Nor is this a Miami or even a Mrytle Beach style large seafood buffet. Ocean Flame is nothing more than a mediocre 3 Star Hotel buffet that can exist due to convenience for hotel guests and the ability to advertise as the only seafood buffet on the Gulf in this area. The food quality is certainly not resort quality as it certainly was not prepared with any love or intent to wow guests. And the service sub par as your dirty dishes will stack up, drinks run empty, silverware be forgotten upon being sat, and regular behind the scenes staff complaints heard if you listen and watch. This all comes from clearly poor management of the restaurant. Overall. If you come here with low expectations like dining at one of the large buffet chains or expecting 3 Star Hotel experience, you will be fine. But if you expect a true 5 star resort experience, you’ll be very disappointed. This is a 3 star resort hotel with 3 star amenities and a 3 star restaurant with 3 star service. The potential for much more exists, but under whomever the current management is, do not expect any “wow” factor.

There may not be a lot of selections, but the quality of the seafood, fruit and desserts was just awesome!! It was pricey but for the same price, it’s much better than a lot of buffets in Las Vegas. The vibe and staff were also great.

This place was amazing! I am a big seafood lover and they definitely delivered. The oysters were soooooo good! I had about 6 of them. They were nice and juicy and had such a great fresh flavor. The crab legs were the most addicting. I literally made about 4 trips to grab more and more. They were packed with meat and I love the flavor. The chef didn’t just butter them, he seasoned them to perfection! The breakfast buffet was also superb, I had the chef whip me up an omelette and it was the best Id ever had (even better then mine) I don’t eat pork, but I couldn’t resist their bacon. Gosh it was so good and crispy I felt bad after devouring them so fast. The fruits were nice, cold and fresh (no complaints) Our waitress was the BEST! “Yvonna” was super nice and energetic. She kept the mimosas coming and she always made sure we were satisfied! She had such a great personality and she even offered to steam our crab legs. There was such a nice atmosphere here, from people opening doors to greeting you as you walk in. I really enjoyed this place

They no longer have the dinner buffet, I called because the open times online didn’t make sense to match with dinner. The lady who answered was very rude about it, and acted like I should have known. Update your stuff then!

I am eating here as I wrote this and I’m already disappointed by this place. The server took forever just to get to us. Then she was really rude when I asked to add on a kids French toast to my adult meal I had already ordered. First of al telling someone they can’t add on a kids sized portion after they ordered an adult meal is ridiculous but being rude about it is unacceptable. I had planned to eat here several times during my stay but I think I’ll be going next door instead.
