Husband and i picked this place to dine in for our date night. We just saw it on google and saw good reviews and decided to try it and its even better than what we were expecting. We sat on the “cocktail” bar. Cocktails are good, we ordered couple of rolls but the crispy salmon skin roll was my favorite. Also tried their Udon and oh my it was so good. The Sake Cheesecake was delicious, so good it made me emotional . Definitely most authentic sushi place i have tried so far here in AZ. The bartenders were super cool and service is top notch. Do yourself a favor and bring your loved ones here

Incredible! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation . This is the best sushi I have had in years. All extremely fresh fish. I can’t believe we have lived here for so many years and have never been. We will be back as often as we can.

This place was wonderful. Went here with a good friend for a birthday dinner. We made reservations for a Friday night, and I’m glad we did, because the place was packed! For anyone just arriving as a walk-in, though, it still might not be that bad. Most folks waiting were still seated within about 10-15 minutes. Anyway, everything was absolutely delicious. We had the tuna belly nigiri, the tuna nigiri, the scallop nigiri, the tamago, the salmon cornets, some wagyu meatballs they had on special, and pike conger eel tempura that was absolutely amazing. Although we only had a few small plates, everything was so luscious and well-prepared. For my friend, he didn’t like the cocktails very much, but I was a big fan of the Philosopher’s Path and the Blossom in Gyoen. I’m also a big fan of plum, in general, but the Blossom cocktail was so wonderfully delicate and silky that I was very happy! I’ve been to some of the more “trendy” places all over the valley but this little unassuming place in Chandler is definitely the only Japanese restaurant I think I’ll go back to! Thanks, Shimogamo Team. You are excellent.

A very high quality experience with melt in your mouth fish flown in from japan. Great flavors like the amberjack with truffle sauce. Best sushi Ive had in the Phoenix area. And very good cocktails too. Pricey, but you wont be disappointed.

My wife and I have been here twice now. It is not cheap! But both times the experience has been completely different from any other sushi/Japanese cuisine experience we have had. Service is always great. Staff are friendly, attentive and pleasant. The food is just something else. The quality is always top notch and the flavors incredibly well balanced. We have not had a dish we have not enjoyed. When I have the means and want the best sushi in the valley Shimogamo is my first choice.

Went their for a special occasion and made a reservation via OpenTable for a regular dining at first. If you’re interested in Omakase make sure to specify that as it requires a separate reservation for that option. Paul our server was super attentive and happy to explain any details or nuances of the dishes that were served to us. I’m excited to go back and have more sushi oriented dishes. But for a first experience it was a memorable one.
