Shipgarten offers a unique experience for visitors, as it combines several different elements into one space. After dinner at Han Palace, my fiance and I decided to Shipgarten. They have Open Mic Night on Tuesdays, Trivia Night on Wednesdays, Karaoke Night on Thursdays, Request Fridays, All Day Party on Saturdays, and Family Days and Music Bingo on Sundays. When we programmed there, we didn’t know they didn’t have parking on-site. We followed the shuttle to the parking lot and caught the shuttle before it left. Upon entry, we were carded by Security. When you enter, you’ll notice a DJ and a huge chess set. There were at least four spots – Waffles and Tacos, Salamati, Tysons Biergarten, and RollBar, where you could order food and drinks. They have trailer style bathrooms, beer pong tables, an area for children to play under parental supervision, and tent with bar and dance floor. If I return, it will not be for Request Friday. I felt like the music genre didn’t fit the venue and was geared towards a younger crowd.

The drink selection has a lot of variety— light to dark beer, cocktails, seltzer, wine, slushies. The food selection was great but I was disappointed by the portions. The main bar had very slow service but the atmosphere made up for it. There is something for everyone here— dog park, cornhole, beer pong, games, kid area. I’m looking forward to coming back but I hope they increase the amount of people on staff.

What a wonderful place! Great for young kids, adults, and your dog. Lots of space. Lots of picnic tables with umbrellas. The food was flavorful and a variety of choices. The shuttle was quick. Well thought-out business – impressive !

Came for a baby shower, the food is terrible undercooked cold and the staff was terrible the least helpful, its like its their first time doing this even the pizza was bad. The managers nice but the staff was so nasty towards everyone. The drinks great thats why its two stars location has a lot of potential. Clean environment good music. Could do a lot better if they stop the bouncer from cooking.

I had so much fun at the ship garten and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who lives in northern VA or who is planning on visiting. They have a wide variety of activities and food choices so you will find what you like. They are also super dog friendly and you can even bring them on the shuttle they provide which is awesome. Super unique experience and you have to check it out!! Get the kebab if you go sooo good!

You need to come to Shipgarten if you’re in the DMV area! This is a great spot for day drinking and their festivals are really fun too. A lot of food and drink options so no matter who you are you will find something you like. Can have a fun or chill night here you need to come out if you have never been, the venue itself is an experience. Will be coming back!!

Great atmosphere. We went on a Sunday which was family day so that was a surprise to us. Was definitely a lot to do for families but when it’s just two of us and a dog, could be overwhelming with kids. Other than that, the beer was good, food was really good and the mini dog park was great. One suggestion for the dog park is to not allow food in the dog park as a lot of dogs want to jump up on the table for the food. And make the small dog park kid friendly. The larger dog park with larger dogs and infants don’t necessarily go well. But that’s not a complaint; just a suggestion! Definitely a nice spot to go grab a drink and some food.

It’s an outdoor venue with tents. So if it’s too hot or too cold outside I would imagine my experience would have been much different. But the day we went the weather was perfect. They have karaoke on Thursday nights which is fun. I noticed there are moon bounce houses and a playground in the back for kids. However to get in you need to show ID. They have 3 different sections/types of food. And they also have hookah.

My friends and I love to meet up here and hang out! Good outdoor space and often they have live music/weekend events. Very dog friendly and family friendly too. I haven’t eaten here yet but no complaints on the drinks. I haven’t taken many photos here but you can see some green beer we got during St. Patrick’s day weekend 🙂
