The Akrami family (Azar & Ata) migrated to the United States of America in the late 1970’s due to the Revolution in their native country of Persia. They left everything behind and with great courage, determination, and faith started a whole new life with their two sons, Ramin and Ashcon.
The word of mouth soon reached the nearby cities to their hometown of Louisville, KY, traveling as far as Washington DC. After a few decades of persistence by friends and foe alike to open a restaurant, Akrami’s sons Ramin and Ashcon finally put a front to a very old family tradition of crazy-good food and then there was born Shiraz Mediterranean Grill.

I would give them 5 stars due to the food and friendliness of employees but pricing was a little higher than expected. Wish their veggie wrap had more vegetables in it such as broccoli or cauliflower or spinach, etc. but it does have mushrooms.

The food is delicious! My favorite is the chicken kabob with a side of baked eggplant; so good! Never disappointed when we eat there. The herb rice is another good side to have with a kabob. And always a side of tzatziki sauce!

The only reason I have an heavy opinion on Shiraz is because I recently ate at another Mediterranean restaurant and the MEAL they gave me was superb and the price was awesome! Coming here I paid for my kebabs separately, the rice separately and there was no little side salad or hummus in the box at all which was disappointing. Also I love naan bread and the naan I got was as bland and thin as a piece of paper. The employees were nice and the place was clean but in comparison to the Shawarma Treatment Shiraz could learn some things. One pic is Shiraz and the other is not.

I am in walking distance to the location on Bardstown Rd and accidentally placed an order at this location (Holiday Manor). I called multiple times and was placed on hold for 15 minutes. After finally getting through to the appropriate party, they told me I could not receive a refund because the food was already made. A real shame, because I was going to order food at the other location. Just a complete lack of customer care and the lady who answered the phone, Shay or Che, was extremely unsympathetic. lol needless to say I will not be paying for this overpriced food again. Just go to Safier it’s amazing with better service.

The owner helped with suggestions and she did not disappoint!! It was the best Mediterranean food, absolutely delicious. I had the chicken kabob and hummus. The hummus tasted like top notch quality food with perfect seasoning. The chicken was juicy and tender. We also loved the fries and Mayo sauce. We are from out of town but will seek out Shiraz when nearby!
