Good, hearty, vegetarian Indian food. I asked for a recommendation and was given the Samosa Chaat. The wait was only about ten minutes. I am only giving four stars because you cannot pay with card for bills less than $10–that’s all of their meals. Plan to either pay with cash or buy two meals. As I didn’t have cash, I had to add a mango lassi drink to my order, which I ordinarily wouldn’t have ordered.

Like the other reviewers have said, the place is unassuming, the owners are kind, the food is delicious, and the prices are spot on. When you walk in, the menu is by the register, on your left. There is always someone there to give suggestions, and the Samosa Chat is popular. It’s no wonder people like it– the flavors are out of this world. You eat upstairs in a loft. They have created a very comfortable and home-like atmosphere. The portion was great; I took half home! I can’t wait to go again.

Fantastic little spot for Indian food. All the food is vegetarian and can be vegan if requested. The samosas chaat is absolutely fabulous; super filling and inexpensive. I will definitely be back to try other menu items!

Shiv Shakti Chat House is an unassuming gem! It doesn’t look like much from the outside but the food is delicious and well priced. There are tables upstairs and it’s nice and clean. Don’t let the names on the menu scare you, just ask. They are happy to help!

The best Indian food I’ve had since I moved to Scranton. I was sceptical about eating in a convenience store but it was fantastic! I frowned at the styrofoam plates and plastic utensils but it is traditional street fare and the quality of the food eclipsed any doubts I had. The chai and mango lassi were crazy good. I especially love that it’s all vegetarian!

This place has the best Samoa chaat that I ever had. I’ve tried this dish at at least 6 other restaurants but this place is the best one. Clean, friendly, and excellent food. The owners are genuine and very nice. Try this place soon!

Normally I would not have been attracted to a convenience store and restaurant place. This time my mom who is a strict vegetarian we had to find a place which served no meat and we ended up at Shiv Shakti Chaat house we ordered multiple items from their menu just to not take a chance incase any items turned not good so as to not be hungry considering we were going on a trail in Poconos after lunch. But to our surprise everything was super scrumptious in taste and and they were generous with their serving quantity so we had an absolutely hearty meal and had to take a break for food to digest before venturing out on our trail. I would say its a hidden treasure of great taste in Scranton PA.

All vegetarian, spicy but not very hot. Great attention to flavor and spice yet lack of real substantial heat apparent in various Thai & Chinese cuisine. Quite pricey considering the simplicity of the food: chickpeas, peas, potatoes, curry, coconut milk, cilantro, etc.

Always delicious, freshly made food and friendly service! This restaurant is a hidden gem in Scranton. They have a clean comfortable dining area upstairs to enjoy food in-house or you can take it to-go. There is a $10 minimum to pay with credit/debit cards. I recommend the Somosa chaat!
