I’m not even sure where to start, so let’s get the negative out of the way first. Plan to wait. It was a Saturday night and the weather was cool and raining. They were packed! At first I wasn’t sure about waiting, but they fixed that quickly. We had Frances as our server and she’s absolutely awesome!! Multiple staff checked on us, even though they were all very busy. This was only the second time I’ve ever had a meal that just kept getting better as I ate it. They don’t take reservations, but once you have the food, you won’t mind waiting….unless it’s in the low 40’s and raining. We will definitely go again, it was worth every penny and then some!

My partner and I have been here a few times and the food is always amazing, highly recommend their sushi and cocktails. We had also lost one of our wallets last night and the staff was very helpful and i cannot thank them enough for finding it for us. I don’t know what the pay is like there but I can tell you that Vanessa definitely needs a raise for her heroism last night.

Went on a Monday night to Shokitini. Be prepared to pay to park unless it’s a Sunday. There were a handful of other tables occupied when we got there, but we never had to wait long for service. Appetizers came quickly and so did the main meal and dessert. We decided to sit at the sushi bar per recommendation from a friend. We were given a complimentary salad and fried mushroom puff with tuna appetizer. We ordered a sushi dinner for 2 for $49.95. We put in the special request box that we love eel, but are open to trying new things. The meal came with an additional ginger salad and miso soup. It was such a neat experience to sit in front of where the sushi chef was making our dinner. He checked in on us while we were eating, and we got to rave to him about how delicious everything was. We ended up with a lovely assortment. Favorites were the bbq eel, conch, albacore, salmon, and yellowtail. Tuna and red snapper were alright. All of the fish tasted fresh, clean, and lovely. The conch had a nice firm texture and the bbq eel is just simply delicious. Hubby especially loved the shrimp tempura roll and double punch roll. Dinner ended with complimentary fried Oreos. I highly recommend coming and sitting at the sushi bar. Fabulous food and fantastic service. Absolutely delightful time.

Hands down my favorite sushi spot. I have yet to eat anything disappointing here. They have a good variety of maki and nigiri as well as dinner plates and a variety of appetizers. I eat here around once a month and usually go for the UGA roll, fried calamari, and vegetable tempura. Their steak is also delicious. Their drinks are well-poured and fairly priced. Be aware they open at 5pm and there is often a wait if you get there later than that. They also do not seat incomplete parties so make sure everyone arrives on time!

My birthday dinner that my wife had planned for me. It was very disappointing that downtown Athens thinks this place is good. Quality of fish is sub par, head chef doesn’t know how to make Nigri. Not authentic at all.

Great dining experience with very tasty and quality seafood. The staff were curteous and attentive to our needs, the mussels were bursting with flavor, and the nigiri were refreshing. I ordered the super volcano roll also and I guess I should have expected it to be like a volcano but I did feel bad about being unable to finish the plate due to the amount of mayo based sauce there was. The rolls underneath was just fine but I felt a bit sick from the amount of sauce that was poured over it.

Shokitini is the best restaurant in all of Athens! I always sit at the bar when I visit, which is usually 2-3 times every week. The three bartenders, Mitch, Tim, and Evelyn, are phenomenal. They are the three best bartenders in town too. They give the absolute best service and talk to you like you’re a very good friend. They always make me feel welcome and loved. Truly the best of the best. The food is delicious too! I have never had a bad meal there which is also another reason as to why I keep on going back. Having dinner there is definitely one of the highlights of my week. I will truly miss this place once I graduate from UGA and move out of Athens.
