Small and mighty place. We really enjoyed our sandwiches. Went out of the box and ordered the Hardin chicken sandwich with bleu cheese. Oh wow! That was fantastic. This is a small place, definitely a more to-go kind of establishment wish it had more seating they accommodated. Too hungry to take a picture. We will definitely go back.

Came in with hangry kids, which didn’t phase our server in the least bit, she was still overly courteous and sweet to them. Food was great, my husband had a burger and I had a very tasty taco salad. Then our server even let the kids hang up their colored pictures. We were treated like family and we felt very special. Thank you!! Everyone should stop in here- It’s just a few minutes off the highway if you’re traveling like us, and well worth it! Nice full bar with beers on tap too, I’d like to try next time we don’t have the kids

The burgers are fantastic. Large menu with many imaginative options. I have enjoyed Short’s and sister restaurant Stella for many years. Having a spot on the east side is great. Location is handy. The place is fairly small and has limited outdoor seating. It was not packed on a Tuesday night but busy enough to guess it will be in the weekends. Service was fast and friendly and the place is clean.

Saw this place and thought it would be worth the try. Ordered cheese nuggets which were 13.00 and was sadly disappointed in the serving size. They were so salty tasting. Burgers we’re decent. My tenderloin was a total grease pit. Wasn’t allowed to sit before tossing it on the bun and drain off. The fries were bland. Prices didn’t equal the food quality.

Once upon a time the best burgers in town were at the Hamburg Inn, which was owned by the Panther family for 80 years until Dave sold it a while ago. It has since gone way downhill. George’s, where my great uncle Rick worked for the longest time, sells a good burger too and, I believe, used the same local beef supplier. But these days the best burger in town is Short’s, either Downtown or Eastside, with local ownership and locally sourced beef. We care about our patties here in the Midwest and if you like yours fresh and medium, this is the joint for you

Was in Iowa City for a week and happened to be near this restaurant. It’s a small, cozy restaurant that makes you feel welcome. The prices are definitely some of the best in Iowa City and the food is also above par. The food quality to price ratio is incredible. I tried out their tacos with chicken meat made in a 6 hour long process and it was genuinely the best chicken I’ve had. They were only 10$ too. I should also add they have a nice but not overwhelming variety of burgers that are amazing too. I just happened to love the tacos the most. I came here probably 6 times over the course of the week and will definitely visit again when I’m in Iowa City. If you’re looking for a smaller bar/restaurant where the servers make you feel at home and the food is great at a great price, this place is for you.
