It all began in 1993, when two local boys in Gulf Shores, Alabama decided to open up a casual family-focused seafood restaurant on the Gulf Coast. The idea was to create a restaurant where people would feel welcome to be themselves, families could afford to dine out together and strangers would leave as friends.
Coastal vacationers demanded that Shrimp Basket expand to provide this incredible seafood value to those unable to be at the beach year round.
Today, we’re happy to offer locations across the Southeast for family and friends to feel a part of the beach, dine and enjoy delicious seafood!

We tried this place randomly while driving around. We were impressed by all you can eat seafood fest they are having and we went in. We did absolutely liked the food. Service was good and quick and it was great. We had a very good time and good food. We took three all you can eat and it was worth it. They servered us as many refills we asked for and they were quick.

I was on vacation in Destin with my family for this weekend and we were looking for something quick and close by. We chose this place and we ended up sitting outside. I ordered shrimp tacos with fries and a lemonade. It was decent, not too crazy. The gourmet hot sauce was definitely hot, just like I like it. The outside seating was nice as it’s right by the street so you can see everything. There were cute little string lights above us creating an inviting mood. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, nice environment, food was straight, I’m a satisfied customer.

Starving and exhausted after fun day at the beach we stopped by for dinner. We got seated after a 10 min wait. We were a large party yet everyone on The table got served almost at the same time. The best dish of the night was the blackened shrimp which I couldn’t take a pic of since it disappeared as soon as it arrived 😉 told you we were starving! I ordered the crab cakes and they were okay. The redfish over rice was quite flavorful. My least favorite was the fried Okra lacked flavor. Overall it as a decent experience. The food overall is a little pricey but considering there was barely any wait it was okay for a one time meal.

I almost hate to review this place as it is a local favorite in the winter. In the winter season, on Tuesdays, they have oysters on the half shell for 89 cents. At least they have for the last several years, the price increasing a nickel each year. That works out to $10.68 a dozen so please tip well. If raw oysters are your thing, this is your place. We have also tried the fried shrimp and recently the grilled flounder (my personal favorite here after the oysters). They have specials quite often. However, we come here to get oysters….even their regular price is one of the best in town at $18. The quality of the oysters is really good. A plate of oysters with all the fixins and their good Caesar salad is lunch for us a couple times a month in the winter. Sometimes a side of fried okra. Shrimp Basket is a chain and not on the water. The tables are simple and the decor sparse…all the things you would expect from a local favorite.
