You know the food has to be good for anyone to brave the overwhelming traffic and construction hassles. The winner is the amazing Jumbo Fried Shrimp and the coleslaw is amazing. Shrimp Hut is truly a staple in the Indianapolis Eastside.

I bought some catfish mac and cheese and greens for my dad last night My dad said the greens were horrible it tastes like that over 2 days ago The macaroni was cold I’ll send the macaroni and greens and the cooler Never understood why you would go to a fish Restaurant and get cold food I asked the guy could he heat the greens And macaroni up in the microwave smh

I had the best whiting fish on Wednesday 2/22/2023. Also, thanks for the $4.99 all day construction special. Whomever cooked that fish, put their foot in it. I bought 3 and had one left over. The fish taste the same the next day without anything on it. Kudos to the cook. Someone said the parking lot is small. No it isn’t. There are two sides to the lot. I have not ever had any bad fish from the Hut, and I have been going since the early 2000s or before then. I have been to them all. I live east so, of course, I go on 38th Street.. Me and my colleagues went for lunch for years when they were both on 22nd Street, Keystone at Southeastern, and on Martin Luther King. I have been west when I lived west, and I went on Capitol. Was sorry to see them.close. I am grateful the Shrimp Hut survived the pandemic.

I had heard through the grapevine that this place not only served frogs legs, but made frogs legs that would make you miss your grandpa’s cooking. ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Took me back to when I was a kid snatching bullfrogs out of the lake with grandpa and frying them up. The legs were great and the hush puppies are unique. Not mealy, but more the consistency of pond cake. LEGENDARY. The staff was amazing, friendly and personable. It’s not fast food and it shows. The wait time did not warrant a complaint. On the contrary. If you want faster seafood go to LJS and get exactly want you’ve come to expect. 20 minutes or so and totally worth it. Shrimp Hunt is currently offering carry-out or picnic tables for dinning on site. I enjoyed everything about my visit up to and including the friendly banter of the clientele. I will, without a doubt, be returning to the Shrimp Hut.
