It’s definitely a shack. Typical fried seafood. Tender and not overcooked. Do know that it is cash only (I didn’t inquire about their check option). No more onion rings or sweet potato fried (July 2023).

Stopped by with a group of 4. Food came out quickly. Shrimp was fine. Butterflied and heavily battered. Nothing special. Scallops were good…very juicy and tender. Shrimp burgers were very rich but the buns were too think and chewy. Hush puppies were fine. Not sweet and oddly shaped but solid. Sides were underwhelming. Fries were soft, green beans and red rice were underseasoned and really had no flavor. Overall fine, but nothing special, and skip the sides.

Wonderful restaurant! Highly recommend. We tried many seafood restaurants while down here and this one takes the cake. I wish they weren’t cash only but doesn’t change my opinion they are the best restaurant all around we tried. Went to lady’s island dockside, fish camp and Johnson tavern and this was our favorite all around! Not pretentious, best tasting, great pricing and quick friendly service. If you want a fish/seafood fry this is the best option in the lowlands we found on vacation.

You order at the window, get a number, get food, eat food. The shrimp are great. I enjoyed the red rice and slaw also. Although it was pretty warm today, I had a pleasant breeze while I dined outside at one of several picnic tables overlooking the marsh.

Seafood lovers in our family has shrimp burger and fried clams. Both were happy with their food. Land lovers had hamburgers, which were fine for a seafood place. French fries were frozen, nothing special there. Hush puppies were huge but bland. Dessert was prepackaged as in vending machine style, so definitely skip that. This restaurant is definitely a must-do for seafood lovers in the area, and their shrimp burger did not disappoint. Staff was friendly. Please note they only accept cash and checks.

Definitely a shack but it fits the theme with being on the way to the beach. Absolutely great food, simple and made to order. Even though it’s made to order it was pretty quick too! When I was there it was definitely busy but we were in and out in about 15 minutes I suppose. A great hidden gem.

It’s been more than 20 years since I have been to the Shrimp Shack, and I can still feel the crunch of the best hush puppies I have ever eaten. I’m not a seafood fan and always ate my parents coleslaw and hush puppies.

I had the fish sandwich and liked it. The fried shrimp and corn dog was great as well. The hush puppies have some onions in them, so heads up if you’re a picky eater .
