I’ve returned to this spot a few times, and will continue to do so! The raw oysters are delicious! I’ve had some from other places but the ones from here have been my favorite. They just taste clean. I’ve had a platter here and there. While those dishes were good, I feel like the price is a just a tad too high. I’d definitely recommend the blackened ahi tuna though! The food quality is great, but the jewel in the crown is the server. Don’t know her name but she has been the sweetest I’ve experienced here in NC. There is a little bar section, along with limited indoor seating. It has your typical sea decor like surfboards, and fish nets. Not sure if it ever gets busy, but I’ve always gone after 6pm and it’s pretty calm.

Cappy’s Roast was an excellent deal and perfect for two. Dozen fresh Chesapeake oysters and a pound of fresh shrimp. Crispy hush puppies and great slaw. Nice selection of hot sauces and fantastic service. Can’t wait to come back!

The food is fresh and well prepared. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable of dishes they serve. This is my favorite spot when I want to unwind by myself. This restaurant caters to many pallets with raw or cooked options. Come check out one Durhams gems.

Nice chill sports bar type of spot with TVs and high tops. The food here was pretty good. Raw and chargrilled oysters, fish & chips, and fried shrimp. Cold beer. Tequila shots. Ate good. Left happy.

It took two hours for lunch for our party of seven. One friend had something “crunchy and hard” in her oyster and instead of an apology and replacement the waitress said, “Maybe it’s a pearl.” Two of us wanted chicken fingers and they came out tasting like seafood. My friend has a shellfish allergy and began having a reaction to the chicken, so they fry chicken in with the seafood. The lobster roll served to one of us was cold. The waitress grabbed my half full coke to refill it and walked away with the glass for at least ten minutes before I got it back. Where was my drink during that time?? My friend with the shrimp po’boy only ate half and said it was “just OK” and she usually takes home leftovers but not this time. My friends wanted crab legs but they were all out. Overall, the food was mediocre and the service was as well.

Food and service were extremely good! The fish and chips was cooked perfectly. Flake cod, good batter, not to heavy! Plenty of fries! Crab bites were good, except for the shell pieces left in the crab mix, but the bright side, I know they aren’t frozen! Everything was really good! Will be back!

We walked in and there was hardly anyone in this establishment. The waiter appeared to be the server and bar tender. She did check on us once. The issue I had is the 20% gratuity charged automatically to our bill. No one mentioned this for a party of only 5. It was listed nowhere. This seems a bit high for a party of 5. Usually high end restaurants charge an automatic gratuity for a party of 6 and it is about 18%. I don’t know if we were stereotyped or it was slow and she felt she could do this. We would have dined somewhere else because it was by no means worth it. The food was average. I did let the waiter know my issue and she said the automatic tip has been around and did nothing to change it. She said she was the manager when asked. I asked for her bosses info and she gave me a name and the number to the restaurant. Please. I am all for tipping but do not try and get over. Be up front, list it on your menu or you have no right. Disputed this charge and my bank did the right thing because she did not.

Had a wonderful time at the Shuckin’ Shack. The sever was attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend trying the oysters!! The restaurant atmosphere was fun and vibrant. One downside, however, would be the size of the restaurant… It was a little small and tables felt relatively close together. But overall I would absolutely recommend Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar to anyone!!

Good oysters and appetizers, but sandwiches need big improvements. Ordered a takeout of half dozen oysters, cold crab dip, and a po po boys sandwich with fried shrimp. Oysters were nice and fresh. Crab dips were also nicely seasoned, and the baguettes that came on the side with the dip was perfectly crispy.
