The owner Dave was very friendly and came to our table to introduce himself & Thank us for our business. He told us about his beautiful artwork that was displayed everywhere. We came in to try the fish fry around 530. We started with both the turkey dumpling soup and the clam chowder. Both were excellent. My husband said his cod was a bit underdone and greasy/soggy. After eating his he finished mine which even he said was cooked perfectly. He absolutely loved the potato pancakes. The service was good, although I finished my dinner before my second drink arrived. The atmosphere was better than I remembered although it did get really loud from the bar area. We are going to return to try the burgers soon.

Went for dinner on a not-very-busy weeknight. The building itself is old but the restaurant had a very bright, welcoming vibe. Popcorn on the tables was a nice touch.

Been looking for an excellent fish fry. Silver Sping house has that! The cod was very fresh and flavorful! They serve 3 large pieces to start couldn’t eat anymore but would have liked too! Tasty potato pancakes, plentiful and tasty fries. They make a fine old fashioned! My Hubby enjoyed everything also. Looking forward to going back for Monday fried chicken, Taco Tuesday and the rest Great service too.

The food here is great and this places only saving grace. We have been here a handful of times and have had great service except for today. Our waitress decided to sit down with some guests at their table and ignore us when we tried to get more food. There was also a couple of young kids playing basketball in the middle of the dining room floor like they were outside. Totally disturbing all patrons around them and the staff did nothing about it and seemed upset that we asked them to stop them.

Great service. Food was very good. Two burgers and the open face vegetable sandwich which was delicious without the bread (just a suggestion..to much bread) . I guess the burgers were supposed to be bigger? So they gave my husband and son double patties. That was very nice and we needed up taking the burgers home because it was so much food. We had an enjoyable experience and celebrated our 26 wedding anniversary.

We have enthusiastically supported the Silver Spring House since it re-opened under new ownership, going there two or three times per month. The food, service and atmosphere had been great up until a couple of months ago. The last two visits, within the last month, were downright bad. The servers don’t even try (Tiffany tonight never smiled or checked on us. I normally would have complained about the food – the requested rare burgers were all well-done, but it’s just not worth the energy) and I never see the owner around anymore. Every time we went there we would normally spend around $100 for the four of us. But it’s just not worth it. The place used to be packed, but no longer. So my guess is we’re not the only ones who see the place slipping. There’s too many good neighborhood establishments to go to waste my $$ here. The bloom is certainly off the rose at the Silver Spring House.

I was there at 9:30 pm for dinner. The decor was interesting. The food was really good. I had the grilled cheese with mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sauce. It came open face, not what I expected, but delicious. I plan to return soon to try another menu item.
