Honestly the food was decent Chinese food. I’ll have to try it again but when I ate it I felt bloated. The fried rice was good but the chicken felt like there could be a little more to be desired for. I had the sesame chicken but I’ve tasted other sesame chicken which was a bit more flavorful. I’ll have to go again and try it. The prices were very affordable compared to lots of other Chinese foods.

this place was so good. i didn’t get the name of our waitress but she was so kind and attentive to not just me and my family but to everyone else in the establishment. the food is easily in my top three. everything came out the kitchen fresh and hot.

Dinner and lunch entrees are okay. Just the average fried rice and breaded chicken served with dipping sauce. The real stars of the show are the wonton soup and the egg rolls! Would come back again just for those! Also NOT wheelchair friendly

I often arrive here as the meals have authentic flavor when I’m in the mood for Asian food. The restaurant isn’t large but it’s the small places that offer the best meals.

The General Tso’s chicken is the best I’ve found in San Antonio so far. It could be a little spicier though. The food was at the right temp and the rice was prepared correctly unlike many other places I’ve sampled here in SA. Id post a pic but it’s too late. The Rangoon was tasty also. I’ll definitely be coming back. I didn’t see any handicap spots nor wheel chair ramps.

In the mood for Chinese cuisine? Unfortunately, I would not recommend the food here. However, if you decide to ignore this review and choose to dine here, this is what you will very likely encounter, half hearted dishes that lack real love. My most recent visit, the third in one year, resulted in once again receiving the same quality of food. Aside from the natural taste of the vegetables, which were very well cooked, there was a serious lack of seasonings. The same goes for the beef, shrimp and fried rice. The shrimp had zero taste or smell of shrimp. The only noticeable seasoning anyone blindfolded would be able to name is salt. There wasn’t even a hint of ginger. Now, to cap off the disappointment, allow me to warn you away from the egg rolls. Perhaps you may think that I am a glutton for punishment. However, my visits here have been merely for convenience and have been months apart because I do not live nearby. So, back to the egg rolls, let me put it this way, anyone from SA knows that the secret to a successful Mexican restaurant is having a great tortilla, right? Well, apparently, Silver Star Cafe doesn’t know yet their success depends on having a dam good egg roll. Because, unknown to me until tonight, I was told that their egg rolls are pre-made frozen items. Prior to today, I assumed that their cook was either angry or lazy. The egg rolls I received were either gummy or crispy and also lacking flavor. But, when I was told the egg rolls are pre-made, well that was the deal breaker. Unfortunately, I already ordered and was too tired and hungry to drive anywhere else. In addition, let me add that the shrimp/beef dish I ordered had an excessive amount of liquid. I don’t know what the cook did but the dish was swimming and bland. This is the last time I’ll order from this restaurant. My advice to you is this, never trust a Chinese restaurant that is so lazy that it chooses to serve pre-made frozen egg rolls.

Been going to this place for a while now. Food and service always great. I believe it’s family owned. And by the looks of it the community supports them. Give them a try you will not be disappointed.
