Been going to these franchises since they opened. Over time the food and service has changed at this Newport News location since all the other restaurants have opened around Hampton Roads. They even have a nice commercial ad on tv running so business must be good. But the portions and quality of food has went down a few notches. Decent but not great seafood for top dollar. If I had to pick the best location it would be the Military Highway location. More bang for your buck. If your going to spend money try “Forrest Seafood ” in Newport News or “Got Fish?” Restaurant In Hampton. It is the Standard of top notch Seafood and the boxes don’t close. See my review for both and thank me later.

The only reason I am giving a 2 star is because the shrimp was the only good thing we received on our order. Somebody must have made the cook mad the night we ordered. I am telling you straight fact, food was burned. That chicken died all over again. Disappointed is putting it mildly. Food was cold, fish was not fresh, and it was dried up. When you can’t cut the fish with a fork, it’s overcooked and dried out. Hush puppies were tough and dry. I was hoping the food would be good and then I would send extra business their way..NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Maybe the food is good during a certain time of the day. But that night, was a total bust.

I Have ordered here before 5 times I. Ever had a complaint. My Daughter came from NY and I suggested the shrimp Shack well I recieved a whiting taco with one piece of fish divided between both of them. I ordered this before full of whiting and delicious I took pictures this time and it is horrible. My daughter ordered the shrimp taco and chicken sandwich well where was the shrimp it was like you prepare a meal for a toddler. Signed very disappointed.

I go here often but went there last Wednesday the food didn’t taste right & left a film on my tongue and the fish was hard. We ended up throwing 95% of the food awzy because it mDe me physically sick. Needless to say, our family will never be back.

I would like to start out by saying that I had high expectations for my food because everything I’ve previously purchased from here has been good. This time I ordered blackened fish and shrimp tacos and was extremely disappointed. The tacos were just thrown together without any care at all. They didn’t look appetizing and were made in a way that weren’t edible. Skrimp Shack is good at what they are good at, but should stay in their lane and not do tacos anymore. They tried it and failed, as evident by my experience.

Fantastic seafood at fast food prices. And the most convenient, introvert friendly self service options I’ve ever seen. I’m BEYOND impressed. First there’s a touchscreen menu that’s on par with the popular fast food chains. Then if you want a text when it’s ready, just put in your phone number. That’s it! No getting pressured into downloading an app or fretting over whether they’ve called your name or messing with one of those buzzing devices.

This place deserves a trophy for the driest fried seafood (or is it baked?). Lightly well seasoned, very fresh, great customer service. Simple and comfortable sitting. I wish I looked at their menu closer before ordering, I missed some better options.
