This was my first time trying Skrimp Shack. My husband has been raving about hearing they had the best fish sandwich. I must say, to be a fast food restaurant they were extremely clean; truly nothing was out of place. The staff was there, neither friendly nor mean. I asked for recommendations, but was told she doesn’t eat the food, so she wasn’t sure what to offer. They did have the option to place your order yourself if you were paying with card. I had the shack pack with catfish (which had a $1 upgrade / whiting would have been included) with Mac and cheese, collard greens and strawberry shortcake. My hush puppies and fries weren’t fresh. You could tell they had been sitting out for quite some time. The shrimp and fish were fried but I would’ve enjoyed it, if they were fried harder. It also lacked seasoning. I think they should season the fish prior to frying it. The collard greens were sweet, overly sweet. Me, my husband and teenager daughter tried them and we all agreed (to throw them in the trash, which is exactly what we did). The Mac and cheese was made with a white, maybe queso cheese. While better than the collard greens (but that doesn’t say much) it too lacked seasoning and tasted more like box Kraft Mac and cheese than homemade or restaurant quality. Overall, food wise I was truly underwhelmed. Food wise, I probably would give 1 star but I enjoyed the strawberry shortcake so much I gave 2 stars in that category.

This Skrimp Shack location is tops! The staff, food and facility were the best I’ve had! It was so clean I was impressed. The people were genuine and friendly, just what you hope for having a nice lunch with your daughter. What blows my mind is how darn yummy the hush puppies are, you literally cannot get them this good anywhere else!

The only reason I had tried them is due to their online review. But very disappointed. I would say though, there was lots of fish in the sandwich. But they were very thin, soggy, chewy and had bit of a fishy taste. I am not sure if it was just me or that’s how their fish is. I had selected their all the way option and did not find it any spicy nor can justify around $2.5 for it.

I ordered the grilled shrimp with sweet potato fries. They were excellent, exactly what I wanted. My husband ordered the Whiting sandwich. One of the cheese options was pepperjack. We both that was unique and a good selection. The place is clean, with fun beach like decor and great service. If you are south of Richmond on 95, do a search, it wont disappoint.

They said “best Fish Sandwich in Town”. They are not lying! Awesome catfish sandwich. The breading is very light with a taste of cornmeal but not the grainy chew of cornmeal. Catfish is firm but not over cooked. Delightfully delicious for a catfish lover like me.

Wow!!!!! This Seafood was Amazing!!! I was visiting from Atlanta. They had fried Mahi Mahi!! What a awesome option and it was delicious!! They also have grill options which are delicious as well! The oysters were very fresh!! They Fry it to perfection with very little grease residue and it is “Full” of Flavor!! Also make sure to ask for the white sauce because it taste great! Definitely will visit this Skrimp Shack again and it has become one of my favorite spots!!
