I was so excited to see lumpia on the menu and had to order it. The flavor of the filling was good, but the wrapper was all wrong. It was more reminiscent of a Chinese egg roll or wonton wrapper that bubbles when fried instead of a thin, smooth Filipino wrapper. I still give credit for having the lumpia on the menu in the first place! Thank you for bringing a piece of my culture to Staunton! I also got the steamed shrimp which was cooked well and was delicious. I look forward to coming back.

Excellent dinner experience. We shared several appetizers and sides. The Buffalo wings were delicious, the steamed shrimp was very good, tuna appetizer was so tasty. The collard greens were good and the mac and cheese was OK. We have heard several people say their mac and cheese is delicious, so I think we just got an off serving that day. Great atmosphere with super friendly service. We’ll be back!

I love this establishment. I’ve tried everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. I have a specific drink I like that is not a typical bar favorite. They make it for me and it’s perfect every time. The atmosphere is relaxed but upscale and rustic at the same time. The staff is friendly and helpful. In a word: Underwhelming. The burger slider was well done to the point of dryness and lacked seasoning. The jerk chicken slider was likewise cooked to death and had very little flavor. I didn’t find a trace of pineapple in my “pineapple” slaw and it was very heavily coated in mayonnaise. The seared tuna was flavorless, chewy, and thrown in a pile on the plate. The sauce that accompanied it was delicious so I assume it was store bought. The fresh cut shoestring fries are totally delicious and unique and were the only thing that was seasoned properly. After $60 for 2 people we left hungry. The staff were friendly and attentive enough for a busy Friday. The atmosphere is top notch and the decor makes you think rustic speakeasy with its rough bark edged bar and epoxy wood hewn tables and it was the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. The location is also perfect. The menu also reads just right with all the right items on it. If they can get some basics down like seasoning proteins before searing them, when to stop cooking proteins, and how and when to add acid for flavor, they could really have something special. Slyde, if you’re around a year from now I’ll try again.

We had the jerk chicken slyders, fries, and a side salad. The jerk chicken was nicely seasoned and had a balanced flavor. However they forgot the pineapple inspired slaw. Our waiter did obtain a side of it when we asked. It was just “ok”, but it did not have a hint of pineapple flavor. The fries and fry sauce were the best part of the meal. The restaurant was out of the crab cakes which I thought was abnormal for a Friday meal at 5:30. I expect to pay higher prices these days, but our meal cost us $27 for 2 slyders, fries, and a side salad.

As locals, this is by far our favorite restaurant in town. The food is amazing (doesn’t matter what you order, its all really good) absolutely love, love, love the staff, drinks are tasty, and the ambiance is perfect. No other place in town quite like this one. So thankful to have Slyde at 23!

I can’t figure out if you’re trying to be the cool kid on the block by what seemed to be intentional under achieving, like that’s your shtick…the you’re lucky to be here vibe. Snobby waiter never checks how we’re doing. Dirty plate with old food on it, just okay sides. Lumpia and nachos indeed tasty, but people smoking directly outside front door with door propped open, so that was super gross.
