Very cool restaurant they put into this location. This is a very laid-back place to get a good dinner. They have a beautiful bar in the downstairs off of the dining area. They have upstairs pool table, big TV and it is help yourself ordering. You order with the front desk and then they call your name and you have all the deliciousness you order. The brisket the burnt ends the broccoli salad and the baked beans were all on point. We will definitely be back. Not to mention this restaurant is very economical.

Smalls bbq was mouth watering good, and the BBQ sauces were fun to try and delicious as well. This isn’t a fine dining establishment, but this is a great spot for lunch or dinner for delicious BBQ. We ordered the brisket sandwich and ribs, and the brisket sandwich was a standout, the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend to folks staying in cape Charles or passing through on 13.

We had an amazing meal. My wife and I both got BBQ sandwiches and mac n cheese. Their assortments of sauces and cool atmosphere was great to go along with a cold draft beer. I’m from NC and this may have been the best BBQ I’ve ever had.

It’s not as if Cape Charles is the kind of place where you’d expect to find first-class barbecue. In the 15 years we’ve passed through (because we love the outback-ness of the Eastern Shore of Virginia) on our annual road trips to the Deep South, it’s turned into a predictable White retirement community with traditionally mediocre overpriced food, golf and developments eating up the beautiful farmland. Then Smalls showed up. Keep in mind: Through the years, we’ve following the scent of side-of-the-road cookers in former gas stations to discover the real thing. And Small’s doesn’t vibe funky, so…was this going to be another Cape Charles effort at pretending to be authentic Eastern Shore Virginia while catering to people who can afford a $300 hotel? Nope. This is the real thing. I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that if the devil is in the details, the angel is in just getting it right. The perfect order? The smoked half-chicken, with the KC sauce and beans on the side. But we’ve done four stops so far. And we’ll keep coming back.

Everything was absolutely awful! Husband got ribs, and I sliced brisket. Both were very tough. Husband couldn’t even bite the meat off the bones, and I had a hard time trying to cut through the brisket. Our sides were hush puppies which were a thick layer of overcooked cornbread with a tiny center of edible cornbread, and coleslaw was absolutely tasteless. Sooo disappointed! I make better bbq!

You don’t want to miss this experience! Best Sliced Brisket sandwich I ever had! The Shrimp Salad was made with large shrimp and also the best I’ve had! The Broccoli Salad was extra cheesy, the broccoli chopped fine, and just excellent. Oh, and the service was quick as fast food! Thanks so much, Smalls BBQ!
