The food is great the sauce is great, however there is no reason to go after 6:00 PM they are usually out of two or more of the meat choices and sides and sauces! I have eaten there at least 35 times since they opened, I actually took my father there for lunch the first week they were open. The food was awesome however every time we go there after 6:00 PM to either dine in or eat out they only have a very limited selection of meat and sides and sauces. However you can’t go wrong with Smiley guys for lunch or dinner before 6:00 pm. The staff, (not counting my last visit) is usually very attentive, kind and courteous.

The meat here is alright in flavor, but was obviously microwaved to order resulting in a not so great texture. The sauces aren’t great, tasting largely of dried herbs. A nice, large space with good indoor and outdoor seating options.

We love this place! Excellent selection of microbrews, always great food, laid-back music (reggae, classic rock, etc.) at low volume, 3 dart boards, and no pretense. The food is predominantly natural and real, and reasonably priced. Family friendly. Be sure to leave something in the tip jar for those cheerfully hard-working folks!

The food is amazing 95% of the time. Some nights, the chicken isn’t smoked nearly enough. The rest of the time it’s all amazing. They only serve crappy nacho cheese (my reason for 4-stars interest if 5). They are serving such quality food (their salads are, like, whoa), I don’t understand why they bring their nachos and Mac-and-cheese down with such a lame ingredient. They can get busy. Great for groups. The Family meal deal is a steal.

I wasn’t impressed. The sauces were terrible, they tasted only of vinegar and tomato sauce. None of them tasted like barbeque at all. Their mac n cheese and coleslaw weren’t to my taste either.

One of the worst BBQ places I ever ate at. To start or order took over and hour and twenty minutes to get. It was a to go order. Then as we were checking half the food they forgot to give us. We ordred the big plates and it comes with 2 sides. They forgot all our sides and forgot one the kids meals. So after spending 10 trying to flag someone down the girl who I showed that they forgot gave me a dirty look and went to talk to the manager. Then the manager came up and said ok well if you still want the side of fries its gonna be another 15 minutes as we just ran out. Omg. So we choose something else. Then we get home and open up our meals. And not only are the meat portions so tiny i was in shock, but also they were burnt and dry. The mac and cheese i ordered was cold. Not luke warm but cold. There are alot of good grass valley places to eat at. This is not one of them. Between the rude waitress and the lack of food quality and the waiting way longer then we should have. I wish i could give this place a negative rateing.

We were in the area and thought we’d give it a shot. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. The meat melts in your mouth and they have a great variety of sauces. It is kind of a no frills type place, bus your own dishes, but I don’t mind that.
