Smithfield’s barbecue in Clayton is a very nice restaurant. It is clean and spacious with a very good wait staff. The food is a great value for the money. My only suggestion would be to do a better job of peeling the shrimp before you fry them.

Told me to wait 15 minutes while they cooked chicken but it ended up being 25 minutes & I paid for a 12 pieces & only got 11. & probably 30 people went thru the drive thru in that 25 minutes so what did they all order if I had to wait for chicken. That’s what hate is they blow off to go orders inside just to prioritize the drive thru even if they show up 20 minutes later.

CSR Miss Fahey was professional, polite, cheerful, happy, attentive! Chicken breast and wing was large, tender, moist, and tasty. The breading was fantastic. The hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had. The Brunswick Stew was excellent with ample large chunks of white meat chicken. The potato salad was great except it could’ve had a tad of sweet relish and yellow mustard. Even the music was fantastic!

Picked up a combo of bbq and dark meat with potato salad and coleslaw. Because of previous, multiple visits, I had them repeat the order twice. Got back to my house and it was wrong!! I’m done with Smithfield BBQ. I’ve not complained until now but it was time to do so.

I ordered the shrimp platter and got a lot more sides than shrimp, maybe about 3 ounces or less hidden underneath the hush puppies. Perhaps there’s a seafood shortage or supply chain issue, or instead of raising prices, they reduced the amount of food so you don’t feel the inflation. Whatever the case, if you want a satisfying meal, get one of the chicken combos instead.
