We had the BBQ sandwich with coleslaw value pack (fries & sweet tea)…soo good. The sweetness of the slaw combines perfectly with the savory flavor of this “down east” BBQ…and you get a bushel of fries. Would suggest a little less ice in the tea…but it was well made! Overall, well worth the price.

Today, the food was better. The cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good. The hurshpuppies were overcooked. The tea is always good. It was extremely cold in there, but it’s summer, so I’m sure the workers get hot.

I was very disappointed. The chicken was mostly batter, fried hard while the inside was not done. The BBQ did not look appealing at all. The coleslaw and Brunswick stew was good.

I got a little of everything because I am a Foodie. A cashier gentleman helped me place my order, and he was so friendly, full of energy and smiles, and so knowledgeable. My first time going to a place and ALL the items were top notch and had a signature taste. Even the sauces! A must try!!! 10 out of 10. I Can Not express enough how much we enjoyed our meal! Fried chicken breast (tender and juicy), leg, thigh (smaller than usual), tenders (never had tenders like this…juicy, lightly breaded, huge size), baked beans, cole slaw, Brunswick stew (needed a bit more salt but very hearty stew), and OMG hushpuppies! We underestimated what things would taste like, and after taste testing in the car, we went back in to order more! Exceptional service from the front and back house, although there was one little girl who wears glasses who seemed less enthusiastic and spacey! Thank goodness she was not my first impression. Because we ordered so much food, we had ample leftovers, and “Yes Ma’am”, next day warm up was a hit! Can’t wait to drive again from middle Georgia through NC for this experience!!

We aren’t from North Carolina and wanted to try something that would exemplify Carolina BBQ. The pulled pork was vinegary as you’d expect from Carolina BBQ. It was tender and not smokey. I give it a b for a grade. The shrimp were very shrimpy in size, lightly breaded and gently fried. They were still very tender and tasty with cocktail sauce. The hush puppies were the star of the meal. Shaped like little sausages, they were crisp and had good flavor. Service was very nice for a very crowded Sunday lunch time. The fried Chicken had the texture of KFC original fried Chicken, but didn’t have overly strong flavors. If you like the strong flavors of Cajun style fried chicken joints like Bojangles or Popeyes, this won’t fit the bill. But if you like crispy chicken that is wholesome and good in its own right, you might like this.

My husband and I have eaten at this Smithfield restaurant location many times over the last five years. We will no longer eat here because the last three times have been awful. Food burned, being overcharged by $6.00, and a bug crawling on our chicken convinced us to go somewhere else to eat.

That was the worst BBQ sandwich I’ve ever had in my life! I sat in the drive through line for almost 10 minutes to get unseasoned BBQ and warm fries with no salt. 10 thumbs down.
