We wanted to love it. The reviews were great and we were hungry so this was the spot we selected. We started with the soup, which was lovely. For dinner, I got the roasted carrots and farro because farro is one of my favorite meals. It was so oily and the flavor was not at all what I expected. I tried to just eat the carrots but gave up. The rosemary potatoes were my other order and they were tasty. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and ate half of it before deciding it wasn’t worth finishing. He felt like there was too much going on with the sandwich and the flavors weren’t complimentary. We decided to give dessert a try, but even that went unfinished. The chocolate cake tasted much like a chocolate muffin perhaps soaked in some kind of liqueur in a few places? Or maybe just a sauce drizzle?

Literally changed my life. For all 52 years of my life I have absolutely hated pork chops. My mom overcooked them and served them three or more days a week. I HATE them. The owner was our waiter and he recommended the pork chop special. He seemed passionate about them. VERY reluctantly I ordered them. Life changing. I never knew a pork chop could taste good. A couple days before I had dropped $125 on a tomahawk steak at a place on Mackinac Island. It was half as good as Smoke and Porter’s $34 pork chop. It was amazing.

Absolutely phenomenal. Came here on a whim while travelling and was astounded by the food quality, atmosphere, and service! The pulled pork sandwich blew me away. I highly recommend making a stop here if you are interested in quality BBQ and great service.

Right along the Tart trail, great place to grab a meal while walking the trail. Also we had a side 3 ribs which were excellent.

We ate for the second time at smoke and porter. Matter of fact we drove 83 miles to get there for dinner. We had a very nice waitress Cheyenne which gave us wonderful service and made sure we were taken care of. The food was outstanding!! I had a full rack of ribs that were delicious! My son had a steak and it was great too! My wife had the brisket that she could cut with a fork and was very pleased! This place has some of the Best Food in Traverse City and outstanding service! Thanks again we will be back again soon!

Very flavorful food, absolutely delicious! Randomly stopped in for a meal with a friend while we were visiting traverse city and we were not disappointed, the sweet, smokey and some spice flavors complimented each other very well. Burger and fries were great, and the specialty shrimp dinner was amazing. I highly recommend this establishment and will return on my next visit to the city.

We had Henry cater our wedding, and we had our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. I cant say enough good things about his food; you can tell in every dish that tons of effort and thought were put into creating something new and amazing. Henry is an amazing chef with outstanding servers and cooks. Pricing is great for the service and food provided. Please give Henry a call just to chat if you have any kind of event, i promise you wont regret it.

Service was great. Food was very boring. Menu looked like it was going to be great but it was all medium tasting. The German potato salad was lacking vinegar as were the pickled veggies. The beans were tasty. Had two of their BBQ sauces and both were lacking flavor. And it’s in an old Wendy’s.

The food- we ordered the broccoli, quinoa salad, whole chicken and pork ribs. The broccoli and sauces were very good but that was about it. The chicken was quite dry and the ribs were just shy of inedible they were so burnt. Some of the worst ribs I’ve ever had.
