We celebrated our friend’s birthday here last evening and went with the fixed course menu. The restaurant itself is very intimate and elegantly decorated; the food is fantastic and very innovative (i.e., their version of avocado toast is delicious and their embered pineapple is so inventive and well balanced); and their wines/saki are impressive. The service is impeccable without being overbearing or intrusive. A perfect place for a special occasion or dinner with good friends. A much needed addition to the Tahoe food scene.

One may be reasonably suspicious of a Japanese tasting menu concept opening just a few doors down from the Crystal Bay casino in Kings Beach. Save that suspicion because this is really as good as it gets. The creative expression and attention to detail here is nothing short of a work of art. This one is well on its way to getting Michy stars
