If what you’re looking for is barbecue THIS IS THE PLACE!!!! Nothing fancy, just THE place to eat your hearts content of real carne asada . As should be, you get your complimentary chips and salsa. The beef ribs were falling off the bone, the fajitas were tender, and the potato salad was just like mama makes. The service was beyond expectations as well.

Ok so the food is not bad at all. But you better have a toilet in your vehicle ready for some punishment. I really did enjoy the food and service but man…. I contemplated buying a bidet that day. Make sure you have 3 ply underwear on as well. I’ve eaten at a lot of BBQ places in the RGV but none put my bowels through a ringer like Smokey’s

Hadn’t been to Smokeys since the location that was on 495, found out they had a location on Veterans in San Juan, Tx so we went to have lunch. The food is always so good! The chips and salsa is always so good here! We ordered the fajita plate and it was delicious! The side of the restaurant we ate at was right when you walk in. All the other tables on the other side where full. Well, there’s a reason for that….the food is the bomb!

You all need to have more pride with your chicken BBQ. We bought over $70 of BBQ plates and your chicken looked like it was oven baked. I know it was for a fundraiser but come on have some pride with your product! Totally disappointed.

Customer service at it’s worst. Bought fundraiser chicken plates. Right away cashier literally tells cook Here’s one of those. Tickets said with soda. But cashier showed me a screenshot of ticket where soda was scratched off. Like literally, anyone could have done that screenshot. Plus, no utensils. I guess they expect me to eat potato salad with my fingers.

I’ve tried to give this place a chance, twice in fact. It’s one of those BBQ joints that you want to enjoy but everything just tastes off. The bbq is off putting, the pork ribs are cheap cuts and overcooked. The chicken sandwich was just a day old super overcooked and dry chicken breast, lazily torn by hand and thrown on a decent bun with mayo and lettuce. I can’t honestly recommend the place considering there are honestly better options just down the road. Even better BBQ just 10 mins away. The staff is probably the only redeeming quality. My waitress was attentive and checked on me often to make sure I had what I needed. Smokey needs to rethink his food quality though.
