Great little restaurant with some very good BBQ. I was lured in by the delicious smoking arouma and wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich, mac n cheese with a chocolate shake.

We had a sampler platter of meat, tacos, and a milkshake. Although no specific dish was over the top brilliant, it was all delicious and a great way to end a fun snow day. The bbq sauce was in a really cute bottle too. We ended up paying $140 for 4 people after tax and tip.

I stopped at the Shell for gas on my way back down the mountain after having been to the Reno Rodeo. I was really trying to find a nice little café and unfortunately this one had not popped up on my Google search for a café near me. Luckily, I saw a sign that said “Breakfast” just as I was pulling out of the driveway at the Shell station. This is an adorable café with great atmosphere and decor. They also have some really nice outdoor seating. I ordered the Grand Marnier French toast with bacon and eggs. This wasn’t some prepackaged French toast thrown on a griddle. This was some hand dipped French bread with a splash of Marnier in the dip. It was cooked to perfection! The bacon was thick and flavorful with Crispy fat. Perfectly cooked also! I had to try some barbecue, so I put the barbecue sauce on my eggs and it was divine. On my way out I’m going to see if they sell any of that BBQ sauce. If you’re popping in over here for some gas or if you’re in the area, I really recommend coming in for a great barbecue dish or excellent breakfast. The selection on the menu for barbecued is extensive. You’ve got to try this place!

The best breakfast I’ve had in years, I still think about this cozy little place that we ate at one morning in North Tahoe. Get the French toast and sausage! It’s to die for. And the eggs, oh they were cooked perfectly. I can not wait to be back in town so I can eat here everyday. Best breakfast in North Tahoe!!

Probably one of the best BBQ breakfast I’ve had. Ribs were juice and fell right off the bone, pulled pork was delicious, the bacon was bomb

I didn’t find this place to be very kid-friendly. There were not many kid favorites, and things could not be adjusted for my kid. The biscuits and gravy were good, but the garlic and fennel were pronounced…. meaning that it is not exactly what you might imagine biscuits and gravy to taste like. Once you get past that, they were good. The pulled pork and bacon were also very good. Everything else (eggs, potatoes, pancakes) was okay.

Food was great! I wish I could’ve tried more menu items. Smokey’s Kitchen will for sure be our go to when in the area.

Cute place super close to Donner Park. The staff were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the meal we took to-go. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich – he loved it 10/10. I got the brisket and cheese sandwich- it was pretty good and fatty. The BBQ sauce seems to be tomato based. We ordered garlic fries to share and those were AMAZING! Big portions.

3% extra charge to customers to use a credit card which they don’t tell you when they bring the bill to your table. I only found out when I went to pay inside. Outrageous added charge on top of their very high prices for casual dining with paper napkins, pour your own coffee refills, and outside dining on a busy road. $18. Plus tip. for one regular coffee and a two egg breakfast with potatoes and bread.

Wknd getaway to Tahoe/Truckee. Decided to try this place as many others in the area were closed. We sat inside, nice woodsy feel to the place. Loud table next to the door, and the server continued to walk past us 5 times before finally bringing us menus(almost 10 minutes). We ordered the meat sampler with brisket. Undercooked, tough to eat, and they did not have anything but butter knives to cut. The ‘BBQ sauce’ was terrible. Cornbread was burnt and dry, and lacked flavor. Brought us frozen butter too. Sorry, but my opinion. Anyone who says otherwise has definitely not had good BBQ. They never came by to ask how anything was, and it took them 10 more minutes to bring our check. Had to walk to the counter to ask for it. I have traveled across the country and have had better experiences. Will not be going back.
